I love the Sanchez hate here still from some of you.. Admit it, which one of you was the fat assclown sitting behind me in Section 106 yesterday bashing Sanchez the entire game no matter what happened?
So I was wondering if the fact that the Jets record for TD's participated in by a QB is 30 was low and reflected poorly on the team somehow. In other words if Sanchez was aiming at an "inferior" record just because he was on the Jets as opposed to the Patriots or another high octane offense. I remembered Vinny's 1998 as a really magical performance. There was nothing second rate about it at all. The man was on fire and the Jets won 12 games in large part because that was true. So I went to look at the Patriots. They had Drew Bledsoe for awhile and obviously they have Brady now. That's a very high octane offense and has been for 16 years now. Turns out Drew Bledsoe never threw and ran for more than 28 TD's in a season for them. Wow. Big thrower there, prototypical aerial attacker. Never got above 28 TD's. Then I looked at Brady. He must have done that lots of years, right? I got to about 2004 and the end of the first mini-dynasty period and he'd never had more than 29 TD's in a season passing and rushing. Then I went out and found the first year he broke 30. It was when he threw 50 in 2007. He has since added three more seasons like that in 2009 and 2010 and 2011. On his 30th birthday, after 7 years in the NFL he'd never done what Sanchez will possibly do this year in his third season in the league at the age of 25. This is a great young QB we have here. He doesn't look like Tom Brady from 2007 on or like Eli Manning in 2011. But how could he? The people we need to compare him against are Tom Brady in 2003 and Eli Manning in 2006 and he looks good next to them.
They're not all that easy, how often do we see a QB get stuffed on a sneak, or a RB a the goal line. Any way you want to spin it, they count. Again, if you think they don't count for Sanchez, do they count for QB's like Newton, Tebow and Vick? He's getting the ball in the endzone a lot more this year than in his prior years, that is indeed progress. WHAT?
Sanchez is playing great and yet after that dominating win with Sanchez's performance "Bleacher Report" says "This was supposed to be the year Sanchez took over the team and made them his own, instead the Jets are winning in spite of the play they are receiving at quarterback." I guess 2 rushing td's and 2 passing td's and one of the best redzone offenses mean nothing...
absolutely disgusted with the haters still getting on Mark. Mark sanchez is the best quarterback under age of 26 in the entire league. All he does is engineer 4th quarter comebacks and win football games. No other young qb has the credential and pedigree of 2 AFC championship games. Mark is a godsend and really what this franchise has needed for 25 years. The lack of appreciation of his talent is sickening. The way he's starting to call plays at the line now and go through his progression (he does this every december and january in case you haven't noticed) gives me goosebumps.
Apparently yesterday against Kansas City we got a taste of how it feels to have a QB with a rating of over 100 because according to the NY Jets website Sanchez had a rating of 121.3 in that game
The majority of his scrambles haven't been play action naked bootlegs. 4 of them have been standard draws. The thing is I'm not even hating on Sanchez. I'm actually perfectly content with his play right now. I'm just not crowning him vs lower level competition and you guys are blowing it out of proportion saying I am hating on him.
Sanchez is improving week to week. The fact that some here bizarrely refuse to give the guy credit is absurd and shows how miserable they are. Give a rest Sanchez Haters.
You don't want to be optimistic or even rationally optimistic about our young franchise QB. Loud and clear.
I personally don't give a flying fuck about stats. How many games has he personally lost this year? I don't care if he only played 1 year as a college QB. He has over 40 regular season starts, and 6 road playoff games, he should be light years ahead of where he is. His decision making is horrendous, and he can't throw the deep ball. Oh lets talk about what other QB's have done in there 3rd year. Who fucking cares? Who were they throwing to? Sanchez has had a strong supporting cast for his entire tenure, and still no one fears him. Deep Ball - You want to know why our Running game isn't what it was last year, figure out which DC is actually afraid of Sanchez beating us. 4th qtr comebacks - I agree 100% that this kid has moxy. I don't need stats to make my opinion on Sanchez, I watch the game. I watch how scared this kid looks after the first time he gets hit. I see how he reacts when a pocket starts to break down. I see how he lets the ball sail, when he isn't confident in his throw. I see how he throws to his primary receiver even if he is triple covered. I expect more from a 3rd year QB with a ton of experience, and an above average supporting cast. In that same post you responded to, I mentioned how he looks when he throws with confidence. I want to see him confident. I want to see him go stick his nose in the photos after a fuck up, and not go fucking pout. So stick with stats, and I will continue to watch.
To answer your question I don't think Sanchez has personally lost a single game this season. He's been part of a couple of losses but the Jets have had 3 phase breakdowns in all of their losses this season except for the first Patriots loss. The offense didn't cause that loss, the defense did by giving up long drives all game long and allowing the Patriots to control the clock.
LOL, your right! I forgot he is the reason we are winning, but not when we lose. Keep those green and white glasses on. Ravens - 21 points from Sanchez 34-17 final (held O to 13 pts, and a KO return) Denver - 7 points from Sanchez 2 games that come to mind
I can easily take those two games and put the blame on the OL and defense respectively. This gayness and arguing is circular.
Then stop. And you don't know how to watch the game and assess while understanding maturation because you're personal impatience and expectations aren't being met. Fucking hilarious.
The rules keep changing to favor the passing game. The red zone is made for big targets to exploit small DB's who can cover without grabbing and holding. The league has given the O more vertical space to work with in the passing game even as the horizontal space shrinks as teams get closer to the red zone. Look at the leaders in TD catches the last several years. Gronkowski this year, Dwayne Bowe last year, Davis, Fitzgerald, Moss. In the last decade the only 2 smallish WR to lead the league in TD's were Harrison and Steve Smith.
Good stuff. I'm still surprised at least one Kenny 'O B season isn't up there, particularly with all the shoot outs against the Dolphins in the 80s - I appreciate that his concrete feet wouldn't have allowed too many rushing TDs.
