I'm just pointing out how crazy Jets fans are. Trashing Sanchez non-stop, now trashing Geno acting like the Jets have no chance to win with him, yet they felt he is better than a guy who won his first 3 rookie starts? See what I am saying?
I agree he had worse receivers but his TE was better, Oline was better, and run game was better as well as a better Defense and ST if you consider losing West a big deal. That D was number 1 in the league that season and started off playing fantastic. Sanchez play well too but the D held Texans to a shut out. Their 7 points was a pick 6 if I remember correctly. The pats without a TD and just 3 FGs. The Titans game I dont remember too well I think I remember a Sanchez come back. Point is outside of the QB position we were a better team in 09 than now.
i do. but i think what happens is that you have a number of people who are vocal about one thing (sanchez needs to go) then he goes and they are happy and another group comes in and says (geno sucks) while another group says (the jets suck) and it seems like everyone is just contradicting themselves. but its just different groups who step up and seem to take over the conversation. i do know what you mean because it feels like the entire board feels one way and then all of a sudden it feels like everyone is saying something different.
Texans, Sanchez had a decent game, 1 td 1 int, Thomas Jones had 107 2 TD's. Defense was the star of the game giving up a total of 183 total yards. Patriots Sanchez had a decent game, 22 attempts 1 TD. Defense was the star of that game however allowing Brady 0 TD's 1 interception, and totally stifling a very potent Patriots offense limited to under 254 yards of total offense and 9 points. titans was in ways the defenses worst game but...Sanchez was 2 TD 1 Int, 2 of the 3 Jets TD drives were 20 yards or less. And don't forget, Sanchez in the 4th Quarter threw an interception on the 2nd play of a drive that started on the Titans 39 yard line with 6.5 minutes left in the game and the Jets up 7. all he had to do was keep the ball and the jets win the game easy with at least a fieldgoal. Fortunately the Jets Defense turned around and picked off the titans 5 plays later getting the ball back at the Jets 43 with 4.25 minutes left in the game where Sanchez went 3 and out giving the Titans the ball with 3 minutes left in the game the defense shut them down again bailing Sanchez out of the fire. Yes the Jets won those first 3 games under Sanchez, but not because of Sanchez.
to add to that, 33 points were allowed by the Jets in those 3 games, My Grandmother could have almost led the team to 2 of those 3 wins and she's dead.
I miss the D from the beginning of the 09 season. Kris Jenkins was playing like a monster. Our secondary was playing great. It was the beginning of Revis' dominance and no one knew how to stop Rex's blitzing. I remember that Texans game in particular the confusion of the Texans offense as we rushed 6 or 7 consistently.
Yeah, I agree. Maybe I posted in the wrong thread to say it, but I was trying to say not to count the Jets out with Geno starting as a rookie. People seem to give the Jets no chance now. I was trying to say those very same fans, a couple weeks ago, felt Geno was better than a guy who won his first 3 rookie games as Sanchez did.
Mark was outstanding those first 3 games w/ Chansi Stuckey as a starting WR. Jones had 100 yds at Hou in the game but was mostly ineffective until a late long run. we mostly won b/c the D was at their best but mark played really well in all of those games. matt Schaub was more confused than any QB I can remember facing a Jets D.
The only other QB I remember getting that confused might be McCown on the Jags in 11 I think. Threw something like 4 picks and had 2 completions in 3 quarters. Of course Schaub is the far superior QB to McCown.
Wow, that was a really fun game. The defense just exploded. Kris Jenkins was an animal. Remembering all those good times really sours me on the current state of the Jets. Such a quick, swift, DROP.
I'm hoping Richardson can replicate some of that quick interior pressure Jenkins was able to produce.
Junc you and I have very different viewpoints on outstanding. He was acceptable, nothing outstanding at all. Especially in the 1st and 3rd games.
we sure do, I don't just look at stats such as telling us how good Thomas Jones was despite being mediocre most of the game. we didn't run it well the first 3 weeks and we had Chansi Stuckey starting yet mark was really, really good.
Understand that, but there is no Thomas Jones on this team. The defense remains to be seen if it's a top 10 unit, least of all a #1 defense against scoring. To me wins and losses a team stat, although a QB may win or lose the game but 90% of all wins/losses are team stats....very few games are won by average QB's
Great quote from Bart Scott: http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/09/03/bart-scott-talks-jets-sanchez-media-jerks-with-boomer-carton/
no, Mark was acceptable nothing more. And Junc, I don't just use stats and you know it, I use stats to support observations. Stats don't tell you that most of Sanchez's passes are off target, that he leads the league in double and triple pumps to wide open receivers. I watch the games, but I know the eyes can deceive and let you see what you want to believe, memory deceives, perception can fool you. Stats from a single game can be useless, but when you get a large enough sample they tell the whole story. But even so, I do watch the games, but sometimes I think you only watch the highlights.
you told us about Jones and how good he was b/c he had over 100 yds. he had 77 of his yds on 2 carries basically in garbage time(a 39 yd run was in garbage time). Most of that game he did nothing. mark was really good, go back to the game threads on here to refresh.
