Then put him on the bench, where he belongs. This whole competition, nonsense..is setting up the next media sales pitch... This is a guy that couldnt beat out Sanchez....
Unfortunately, what we have here is a guy who may have already evidenced a fragile ego. I think that's probably what you're most concerned with... the kind of behavior that caused him to storm out of the draft is not exctly the level of emotional maturity I was hoping for. But that aside, he's going to have to thicken up his skin here in NY and that's all there is to it. Get used to it and suck it up, sonny. You're in NY now. Deal with it.
Just when I thought this thread had reached the pinnacle of stupidity with the whole INT=good-Punt thing, it gets surpassed by people lecturing fans about booing their own underperforming players. Wow. Just.. wow.
And Junc, I'm beginning to get concerned about your life beyond this board, because you seem to keep commenting and taking digs at peoples' personal lives. What's that saying about throwing stones and glass houses?
Hey, I'm all for people voicing their opinions. It's just that, sometimes, those opinions are moronic.
its a sign that hes running out of arguments to defend sanchez. i do agree with him tho on the booing in camp. its dumb. at this point in his career tho, and the fact that hes heard PLENTY of booing the last few years, it shouldnt really affect him anymore.
I don't post here much but do read most threads. I honestly have stayed away from this thread for months because I know how "fickle" most of the jets fans are. Mehta hit the nail on the head. End of story. I don't know how you can call yourself a jets fan, read that article and actually not agree with him. I am embarrassed to be associated with this fanbase at this point. What happened? That little bit of success make half of us forget the last 40 years? Or is it all the bandwagon fans that jumped on when the guy they are now booing made them like the team? I was at that Pennington spygate game. I was sick to my stomach to see a fan base boo a guy with the heart and toughness that Pennington showed us for all those years. Once again a QB that brought success to a lowly organization. Won some big games. If it wasn't for all his injuries this fan base would of ruined him too. The media is also a joke. Espn being the biggest culprit. The sad part is all you minions follow their lead. It's disgraceful, time to start thinking for yourselves rather than run the same old tired stuff out there that ESPN rehashes every time they want some NY attention. I used to think we were a knowledgeable fan base..... I guess that only comes out when they are 2-14 and only the real fans are left.
I appreciate your concern, my life is falling apart which is why I am picking on nitwit fans who go to training camp to boo their team. Thanks for figuring it out! some of them are like saying we had a great run game in 2010 or saying mark did nothing to help us make 2 postseasons and win 4 playoff games I agree w/ you, it was an embarrassing display by our fellow fans to cheer Chad getting hurt. These are the people that all all normal fans look like idiots. I am tired of it.
I don't understand the basic concept that fans should not show their displeasure when a player is under performing consistently or they don't like the direction the team is going. If you pay good money to be entertained in the stadium and instead you're watching bad play you have three options: 1. Just sit there like a good soldier, likely leading to more of the same thing that is displeasing you. 2. Express your displeasure in some way that the player and team cannot ignore. 3. Walk out and stop buying tickets. I think the irrational option is 1 above. I think if you enjoy watching football at the stadium that 3 is a loser also. All of that said, I don't think anybody should ever cheer an injury, home team or otherwise. It's bad taste and bad karma to do that. What Mehta is doing in that article is what he has consistently done over the last two years. He's stirring up trouble to sell his product. He's doing that in the context in which he himself lead the charge against Mark Sanchez in early 2012 by quoting anonymous sources and in the process undermining Sanchez standing with the fans. If a player is consistently under performing over a period of years and you want to boo go right ahead and do that. You earned the right when you plunked down your hard-earned cash for a ticket and became a hard line supporter of the Jets in the process.
I really don't understand where some of you get off thinking you can dictate how fans ought to use their vocal cords. GFY. A fan who pays money - to support their team - and attends a game, should be allowed to cheer or boo whenever they want (granted, they're not vulgar etc.) And if you don't like that or disagree with that, then I guess you can always just come here to TGG to complain about it. At least you got this place to whine. Because guess what -- people ain't never gonna stop booing. Sucks for you all who have a problem with it.
oh i dont fully disagree with booing. hell, im a long time season ticket holder, so i have had a ton of reasons to boo this team over the years. that being said, going to a scrimmage to boo is lame as hell. its a scrimmage, which means it doesnt count. the pick is meaningless for both nacho and cro (the play which caused the booing), therefore booing something that is meaningless is stupid and makes you look stupid. bottom line, save the booing for when he runs into another mans asshole and fumbles or throws a nice pick 6.
the scrimmage and training camp are free. He had ONE bad year and is having a GOOD camp. I don't understand booing at games either but if you pay you have that right, I think the best way to send a message is to not show up rather than show up and boo. People can do what they want at games, it won't stop me from going. it is embarrassing that grown men and women boo people for doing things they cannot do but that's on them.
mehta-opinions to the point of booing, i have no issue with it. i have only booed one person since i have been a jets fan that i can remember and that was herm edwards. i think sancho has performed exactly the way a guy has to in order to get booed. and i think he has been setup by the organization to get booed over and over again until they sit him down and finally get him out of town. i think a big part of the reason that he gets booed is rex ryans propensity to not sit him, to not provide any kind of competition for him and to stick by him long past when he should have. people got really really tired of rex trotting him out there week after week toward the end of last year. that is why you hear people booing him, they want the world to know that this is NOT the guy they want to go and pay money to see. and i just dont see an issue with that. when the chad incident occurred i was embarrassed to be a jets fan, this is not that in my eyes.
I didn't read anyone "dictating," did you? That being the case, telling people to go fuck themselves is overreacting. But then again, booing Chad's injury was overreacting too. Discussions and opinions... that's all these are.
Haha true. The scrimmage booing might be a bit excessive; but I'm not bent out of shape about it. I don't think fans were booing the team, anyway. From what I gather, they were booing Sanchez because they're tired of his underperformance. Who is anyone to tell fans to not do that? Like, who do you think you are?
One more thing you idiots don't realize how booing the team actually effects how the team performs. You think the Red Sox didn't win the world series for 86 years because they never had a team good enough? I saw first hand the how the tide shifted media and fanbase wise when they won in 2004. Remember Cowboy up? The bloody sock? You don't think the fan base rallied around that team because of things like that and it had no effect on them? You don't think when the fan base sits there expecting things to go wrong the players have that in the back of their heads and in the pits of their stomachs? It has no effect on them? So I guess if you're a jets fan and want the jets to stink keep booing. You are all the idiots that have never played in a meaningful athletic event in your life. There is a reason sanchez has learned to shrug you guys off.
