He is under such a microscope in NY -- his numbers are similar to Eli Manning's for the start of his career, Joe Flacco/Matt Ryan have had less playoff success, Josh Freeman was supposed to be the second coming and he shit the bad last year and is now going to be the comeback player of the year, Ryan Fitzpatrick implodes last year and it was just some mistakes and he will bounce back.

Just a different rule applies to Sanchez it seems.

The sentiment indicated by this post I have noticed is shared by a number of others here. But I frankly do not see why you are wondering about that question. It was inevitable that the jets would have that kind of question raised when they got Tebow. Totally inevitable, and I and several others here said so at the time.

There's no mystery about it. A team has a starting Qb leaving behind a disappointing third season, with many questions, and a lack of improvement as that third year went on. They trade for someone with a huge fanbase and who was the starting Qb for the team that traded him. Despite the numerous protestations from the HC, everyone else sees this as a Qb controversy waiting to happen.

If you don't like it, blame Woody and the Jet FO. It was inevitable when they traded for Tebow.

The problem with the Tebow trade, aside from the fact that the team gave up a 4th round pick, is that it just looks like such a transparent attempt to bring another option on board in case Sanchez fails.

The problem with planning for that potential failure is that it creates a feedback loop in which the FO and fans now are waiting for the failure and see it as a real possibility.

When you have a third year QB that has shown some promise, and Sanchez clearly has shown some promise at this point if not fully delivering on it, you need to double down on getting him over the top. Not because you want the QB to succeed at all costs, but because you want the team to succeed at all costs and having the QB succeed almost guarantees that result.

Instead the big weaknesses of last year on the offensive line were not addressed at all in the primary times to address them, free agency and the draft. The WR the Jets traded up to draft is built for a run first option offense and played in that in college. No real competition was brought in to challenge the RB's who are if average at the primary position clearly below that down the depth chart. Why go get a second runningback to complement Greene if you're already forseeing Tebow taking a couple of hundred carries?

The people who think the fix is in have just as reasonable a position as the people who think Sanchez is the starter the team is committed too. The Jets have created that dynamic, instead of supporting Sanchez with adequate talent to get the job done.

That's just sad and it speaks of a front office and ownership that are not quite attached to reality at this point.

Even if Tebow works out and runs the offense acceptably in the regular season he is going to be a capping factor in the playoffs. You have to be able to throw the ball well there because teams make you pay for bad throws and usually at the worst times.

I think people forget that he threw 26 td's/3400yds and is one of two or three QB's EVER to throw 26 td's in a season before his 26th bday. Turnovers Mark, lock 'em up!

Swapping a 4th rounder for Tebow to replace mark brunell as backup qb was a great move. The notion that bringing in a competent backup qb is somehow a bad thing is completely ludicrous. Backup QB is one of the most important positions on a team. In addition, the Jets just gave Sanchez a 58.25 Million Dollar contract in the offseason. In other the words the Jets have more than "Doubled Down" on supporting Sanchez and working with him to get over the top. Everybody wants Sanchez to succeed and the team to succeed and most especially the Owner who is paying his salary.

Sanchez has demonstrated steady improvement since his rookie season. Last season was his best season as a QB in terms of his individual performance. Its his 4th season, alot of times the 4th season when we see significant improvements from QBs (e.g. Fouts, Aikman, Brees). I expect this will be the best Season Sanchez has had and the pressence and performance of of Sanchez and Tebow will help the Jets to return to the playoffs.

His leadership was a question last year. That he gets down on himself to often. He needs to have that same attitude all season long.

Thank you. So many people on the board need to realize that Sanchez has been improving steadily each year and that progression takes time for some players. Not every player is going to get it right off the bat, and honestly he's in a system where he feels confident with the playcalls and tempo, something he didn't feel with Schotty, and that indicates he should make a good jump.

PLUS every QB that has left from under the tutelage of Schotty has had an outstanding year the year after. So if the trends remain the same, Sanchez should be balling out this year.

Judge all you want you will still be wrong. Sanchez has to improve no doubt he has looked awful at times. He has also demonstrated he can stand in the pocket and make the throws. Reading defenses comes with time and hard work Sanchez needs to get better especially since he does not have the rocket arm to get away with ad throws.

To just say he has no pocket presence and can't read defenses is just stupid because without breaking down the film we really do not know. Of course you know sitting from your coach with bag full of Doritos.

    Obviously

    1. You didn't watch Jets football in 2009 and 2010.
    2. Pennington made genius read with the porous line back in 2005 and 2007.
    3. Serioulsy, you know absolutely nothing about football. (That's not fair to nothing, but I can live with that.)

Same here. He turned into a different QB this preseason the moment Hunter lost his job.

One of the worst QBs in the league the last 3 years. The numbers speak for themselves. If he had all these awesome skills and stats, he would at least be in the upper half of the league. If anyone knows nothing about football, its you Sanchez rider.

Lets see how good he does in weeks 2-4 against some good defenses. The Panthers D is a joke. Wayne Hunter being gone is a god send though.

Mark can say what he wishes, but the team needs to give him the tools to succeed. More/better WR's, Decent front line to give him time, then geter done . . . . .

Seriously, a 4th rounder that is not much at all. I'd rather have Tebow than say Joe McKnight a 4th rounder.

Thanks for once again making a totally useless comment that is completely devoid of any facts or analysis.

We did bring in backup QB in Stanton who we then had to trade. Stanton would have been serviceable. That 4th rounder we traded could have been used in multiple ways and fixed bigger problems like OL depth, TE, S, etc. Backup QB was not a need or concern after signing Stanton and having McElroy. It was a luxury we traded a 4th rounder for. It was an interesting move and I believe I and many others believe we could have used that draft pick better than a WC player/backup QB especially since there were GLARING needs at certrain positions when we made the trade.

This. I thought it might be because I haven't watched football in a while, but he did look like a different QB. More zip, quicker, moved in the pocket like he did in that CLE game in 2010.
