I still think Couch was serviceable pro. He wasnt a quality starter or anything, but he certainly was a solid backup. But those top 5-10 picks who flame out never see a second contract, even if they are better than that 5th round pick also looking for his second deal. I don't know why that is, but that seems to be the case. I think Couch was better than Holcombe, and needed a fresh start and a chance to be a backup like Carr was given.
He reminds me so much of Elway when he runs. One thing that bothers me is it looks like he has a habit of coming back on a 5 step drop and facing the wrong direction for half a second. I'm not sure if it's designed as some kind of a half-assed play-action or he's just taking way too long to turn, but he's going to get crippled if he does that against an NFL rush.
That latter part is coachable but his footwork and the way he hop steps into his throw kinda reminds me of Big Ben. He knows where his guys are when he is on the move. He just finds a clear spot to throw and he's already going there. The kid looks alright. Now lets see how he handles men coming after him.
sanchez does a great job making quick decisions under pressure he stands in the pocket under pressure although id like to see him move more his footwork is fantastic his release is very smooth and quick there are just some decisions he needs to work on for a rookie he looks veryyyyyy promising he looks composed on the field and has a great football brain
..........and high!! hmy: Hmm , knee brace, left leg.... :scratches head: who else used to wear knee braces???
I hope the Jet's fans give Mark a chance. He has all the tools to be a great QB, the only reservation - since he only started 16 games for us, he never demonstrated that he could carry the team on his back when needed, to pull out a win. Both Palmer and Leinart were able to do that. While charm and passion are great attributes, a cool head when the game is on the line, and leadership is needed to pull the team together, is what will ultimately make you a true leader where it counts the most...wins. That is one reason Coach Carroll wanted Mark to stay for one more year. EDIT: Regarding the knee brace, all USC QB's were required to wear the brace to prevent serious injury, many of his fellow Trojans continue to use the brace in the NFL.
we will definitely give him a chance, but unfortunately in NY you are as good as your last game. Fans won't wait to see how he develops over three seasons. They want him to have Rothlisberger success right away, and then some... that really just isn't probable.
Believe me, L.A. is the City of Champions...you don't win, we lose interest - fast. The two NFL teams we had in Los Angeles did not win enough to sustain our interest, thus we turned our backs and they were gone. Why do you think USC is the de facto NFL team in L.A.? They win...alot. In L.A., you don't produce, we don't show up....N.Y., you don't produce...it get's ugly. I think that is what we dread for Mark, the fan culture shock.
Well Sanchez certainly has shown signs that his personality can handle a lot of adversity, so hopefully the NY Media and fans won't phase him that much.
