So what brought you back here so heavily after a couple of losses? Besides the opportunity to bask in them and tell us how crappy everything is.

    Beat me to it.

Avoid the flaming, till their is something to be dour and sad about. Lament the past and present and forgetting the positive.

Champ do you really enjoy the game at this point? Seriously?

There is so much that goes on at the LOS with Peyton, he makes it look beyond simple.

He runs an extremely complex offense.

Routes that can become wildly inconsistent in windy conditions. In certain conditions, the plays need to be altered.

How long do we keep justifying Sanchez's poor performance?

All I keep seeing here is "give him time, he's still young" or "he's only a second-year QB!" and other similar justifications. When is it appropriate to start blaming him like any other NFL QB who is criticized based on his abilities and decision-making? Sanchez can't get a free pass forever. I'm frankly tired of him escaping blame due to his age; it's not like there haven't been 2nd-year QBs who have made significant leaps before.

I don't think there's anything wrong with criticizing his performance, but too many people seem to write him off because he's struggling at times in his second season. It needs to be kept in context.

But that's the thing, don't you think he's had enough time to improve between all of last season, the playoffs (including an impressive AFCCG performance) all of pre-season and most of this season? He's been through a hell of a lot for a 2nd year QB. The age/experience factor doesn't come into play nearly as much with as it does with similar QBs.

I posted this in another thread, but it's appropriate here. What you're seeing is his best games are getting better and his worst games aren't as bad. 2nd year QB's are still inconsistent and we're definitely seeing that. What you hope to see is those bad games come fewer and far between and the good games become more the norm (obviously). Generally you don't see that until about year 3, but we're definitely seeing a much better QB this season - even if the last few games have left a bad taste in our mouths.

He's already thrown for more TD's and yardage than he did all of last year. His TD/INT ratio is positive this year. He's struggled mightily in the last 2 games so it's putting a bad taste in our mouths, but he's clearly played better this season. He's also been getting harassed severely the last 2 games with worse pass protection than we saw all of last year.

    2009 4 worst games
    10/29 119 0TD/5INT
    8/21 136 1TD/4INT
    18/32 226 1TD/3INT
    14/27 138 0TD/3INT

    2010 4 worst games
    17/33 164 0TD/3INT
    16/38 256 0TD/2INT
    17/44 216 0TD/1INT
    10/21 74 0TD/0INT
outside of the Ravens game week one, all of his worst games this year included far more passing

    2009 4 best games
    20/35 265 2TD/0INT
    14/22 163 1TD/0INT
    9/16 143 1TD/0INT
    7/15 104 1TD/0INT

    2010 4 best games
    21/30 220 3TD/0INT
    15/28 256 3TD/0INT
    22/38 315 3TD/1INT
    27/44 299 2TD/1INT

Our run game isn't as good as it was last year and we're passing much more, because he's more capable.

He has improved. He has been a better QB this season than he was last season - its not even close actually. He's alot better. But he has hit a rough patch and needs to keep improving and take the next step as a QB. He's a young QB working hard to get better. I'm not sure what your point is - if you want to criticize him - go fot it. I think he's played like crap for 2 weeks - so does he btw. So he needs to go out and light up Pittsburgh.

There is reason to be concerned.

That doesn't mean MS should not and will not start against Pitt. There may be a question concerning whether Ryan should have benched him against Miami, but that didn't happen, so the real question is going forward. Will MS improve, thereby negating the issue? Or if not, if bad play continues, at what point would Ryan bench him?

I think THAT he might if circumstances warranted (what would those be?) should hopefully not be an issue, but let's just roll it forward and see what happens. Hopefully it will not be an issue because Mark will get it together.

All QBs are going to have rough games, especially against top defenses. The thing is how they hang in, like last Sunday--Sanchez had a bad day but made throws that could have won the game for us if guys caught them. Particurlarly the Holmes TD and the Cotchery one on the final drive. Along with his ability to run for a first down in a pinch, which we lose if we bring Brunell in, Rex made the right move sticking with the guy who had gotten us to this point. The difference in the Detroit, Cleveland and Houston games were guys caught the ball at the end.
