Three TDs is three TDs. Does not matter if it comes on a five yard run or a 80 yard bomb. Just because you hit a few big plays doesn't mean you are going to blow out the opponent. In theory, quick strike teams eventually wear out their own defense as they only get a short rest. Sure, you want that to improve and have that ability. But usually when you are relying on big plays to win, you are relying on the fact that you cannot consistently drive the ball down the field with a good balance of run and pass.

The Jets blew out the Bills, I don't recall many big long passes in that one. But I do recall a pounding running game that wore out and ran over the overmatched Bills D. The Jets are a run first team as per Rex Ryan's philosphy. The "Greatest Show on Turf"? Leave that to the Rams of years ago.

Why should I answer that question? Do your own research. I don't care if we've completed zero of those type of plays. All I care about is that we're scoring points. You're the one concerned with style points.

Why don't you answer my question of giving examples of poor deep throws outside of the monsoon in the Vikings game. I repeatedly asked you for that when you created this thread 2 weeks ago and never received a response.

I've given you examples of big plays in the passing game, deep passes resulting in TD's, but you aren't happy w/them because they didn't travel far enough in the air.

Because you're contending that the OP is complaining that we're not scoring enough points. If we're 3rd in PPG how is that not enough? The OP is complaining about style points, not points, as you contend.

Could it be he is just not used to having to run the offense as a deep strike first attack? I just don't think the Jets offense MO is to run alot of deep routes.

Could it help if Sanchez does better on deep routes? Sure, can't argue with that. Has it hindered the team thus far? No.

I'm not after style points. I'm after BIG PLAYS!! Big plays are needed to be a super bowl winning team. That or having an elite defense which we currently do not have (yet that could change as the year goes on).

I will re-watch this season's games and get back to you before I ask you any other questions so you don't think it's unfair to have to answer any.

I've shown you big plays in the passing game resulting in TD's. You aren't satisfied with them because they aren't go routes where the ball travels 50+ yards in the air.

    You want style points.

we're 5-1....and somebody is bitching about the lack of big pass plays we're making? really??

I don't care if TDs are scored by our skilled players, dragging themselves over the goal line by their lips......WE'RE 5-1!!

So big plays or a elite defense are all that is needed? I would say a good running game, limiting turnovers and scoring in general are more important than how you score.

The Rams had the best big play offense in the league. Until they ran into the then upstart Patriots.

The Houston Oilers had one of best big play offenses of the 80's, and never sniffed a Super Bowl

The Bills had an offense that routinely ripped of huge offense plays and lost four Super Bowls. Bills defense wasn't that bad either.

Would I LIKE to see that? Yes. What I really want though are big plays regardless of how far in the air the ball traveled. Hopefully Mark can muster up a few big plays from our end of the field taking advantage of the plays his receivers are making.

Did I say that's all that's needed, don't put words in my mouth to help your position.

Now you're changing your story. Sanchez perfectly led Edwards on a deep post for a TD this week and you created another thread complaining about the deep ball. You've said multiple times you want a 50+ yard go route and the big plays I've posted don't count.

    Which is it?

Wait, so first this thread started with Sanchez needs to do better on deep throws to create more big plays. Now the argument has changed to where he doesn't care how far the ball is thrown, just wants to see more big plays?

Because you're taking my words and twisting them. I want Mark to lead his receiver in the deep passes that he's attempted this year. I'm not asking him to go deep any more than he has. I'm saying on the deep sideline routes that they've attempted I'd like to see him give his receivers a chance to catch the ball. You need to get off this "50+ yard sin the air" shit.

Perhaps "all" was bad wording on my part. But you seem to hint that a big play offense is needed to win a Super Bowl. Those are out of your words.

So who was is that said, they consider a deep pass to be 50 yards or more? I will have to go back and look I guess.

You've both well established that you are 100% satisfied with Mark's ability to throw the ball deep. Not quite sure why you're still in this thread.

I didn't bother checking because the distance in the air does not really matter to me. Screen pass for 40 is just as good as one that travels 40 yds in the air.

The Jets are also tied for 3rd in the league for running plays over 20 yds.

The Jets have the 4th highest points per game average in the league, have a +10 turn over margin, and haven't scored less than 24 points since week one. Sanchez is a second year QB trying not to screw over the rest of the team. He is making as many plays as he needs to in order to win. I'll take that over a nice highlight reel touchdown catch every day of the week. Rodgers hit Jennings for a beautiful 86 yard touchdown pass this weekend and their team still lost. I think they would both give back the highlight to get a win.
