Ummmmm...How can Chad stretch a Defense when we dont have any Skill position players with elite speed on the outside?
It wasn't meant to be insightful... it was more sarcastic, since this topic has been discussed ad-nausium, and the truth of the matter being, nothing is going to change. But thanx for playing... Ellis
Yes you did & I am not all over the place in fact I am very specific. That analogy you came up with is not valid since the winds were not blowing at 20/30 miles per hour & the game was being played in warm weather rain or no rain. Please reread what I post very, very CAREFULLY before U just give your reply blindly. Otherwise you come across as looking very silly at least IMHO
Champ, I read it both times you've posted it in the past two days, it's not that complicated. Miami is the most recent example of bad weather and Chad had the flu to boot. He's played his career at Marshall and at the Meadowlands, I think by now he can deal with cold and wind. And once again, with the scenario you gave us we don't need bombs. That plays right into Chad's strengths, dump underneath the coverage and get into FG range. You even gave him a timeout to get the FG unit on, which was very nice of you. I'd think a guy your age would want to keep as many timeouts for yourself as you could.
Pennington is a much superior quarterback then Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson, yet they have been to the promiseland. Hell Dilfer couldn't even keep his job in 2000 with the Ravens. We need to build up the trenches on both sides of the ball, and let Chad manage the game with a strong running attack and good defense. That's why going out and getting some unproven runningback like Turner is pointless. Draft one if you really need a back and get a workhorse like Tony Hunt.
The thing I don't get is this. I think all of the people on the board agree we need to build both sides of the line. That is a no brainer. Why can't we get a Qb that can win a game instead of getting one that can manage a game and not screw it up. What happens when the Defense has a bad game and he has to actually go out and win one? This is a huge possibility in the Playoffs when we face good teams with good quarterbacks. How come we can fix our weakness on the line and every other position on the team but when Pennington's shortcoming come up all of a sudden everyone gets mad.
My observation of posters here is that MANY just are happy with wins & a PO gig maybe cause there has been so much losing in the past they hang on to what I poster cause that is better then losing. If U say started a poll that asked would it be better to start KC & go 5-11 vs starting CP & go 10-6 you will see the majority would pick the CP option cause they cannot look ahead enough to see the year after that KC could come home with all the bacon after ripening in real time FB for a year. Most posters on this board sorry to say do not have the foresight to see the forest from the trees. It is like IS believing that in a 20/30 mile wind in his face CP can throw a bullet. Cause of his blind love for CP he posts silly things like that not even taking into consideration that hardly anybody on this board would accept what he posted
All I can say to that is that the Pats would know what you posted that better then us & all you will see blue/silver flashing down the field in the other direction with CPs pass & sealing there victory over us. Again in MIami there was NO 20/30 MPH wind blowing in CP Face nor was the temp 15 degrees so you are comparing apples & oranges
Show me where I said he'd throw a bullet. I said he'd most likely get us down the field in your scenario with short passes. Learn to read, man. And why would you rather go 5-11 than 10-6 just because Clemens would be playing? You're accusing me of putting an individual ahead of the team? You want 5 more losses just so your boy can play? If Clemens is going to be a Super Bowl hero in your fantasy world, why would he only get us to 5-11 in a full season as starter? And how does that translate to him "bringing home the bacon" the following year? Brady didn't get a year to go 5-11 first, he took over an 0-2 team and won it his first year. Even Chad, who you hate, took over a 1-3 team and made the playoffs his first year. If he went 5-11 you guys would be jumping off roofs, you want him benched after one bad game. But if Clemens goes 5-11 that's progress? You're going to tell me that if Clemens plays and we're in the midst of a 5-11 season that you won't be the first one on here after all 11 losses bitching about how long it's been since 1969 and blaming Woody with your big green sig? That would be ok with you because the QB is young and he's going to somehow parlay that into the championship the next year? Explain that thought process to me when you get a chance, champ.
Alot of people would rather brag about nothing like a first round loss in the playoffs and a low draft pick as opposed to taking a step back to start Clemens to take two steps forward and let him get the experience to take us all the way. If they really believe in Mangini then they should believe he selected a smart Qb with an Nfl arm who can get the job done. Plus they got the guy that Schottenhemier wanted as well. If they let him have a chance maybe we can use more than three plays in our playbook and I wont have to suffer through another Brad Smith trick play.
I seem to recall his being able to hit Moss in stirde, 45 yards plus in the air... And on the sideline (where Moss liked to be.) In Fact Moss averaged over 18 per catch in 2004
If the Jets went 6-10 this year and Clemens came in and played well and the O-line started getting better I would be happy as h**l to be getting a shot at Adrian Peterson or a top notch Defensive End or tackle. As it stands we went to the playoffs and got stomped as I predicted we would three months ago. Now we get nothing but another year without a super bowl and a low first round pick. IF we had went 6-10 and got lets say the 7th pick I think Champ as well as myself would be saying the team is going in the right direction. We would actually be closer to a Superbowl than we are now. We have a 10-6 schedule next year and there will be no wins to be had due to a weak schedule like this year.
People are actually unhappy the Jets were in the playoffs- this team was projected for 4 wins and people are complaining?! Now I have seen it all... this is really disheartening
Hopefully you realize in a 20/30 MPH wind coming straight into your face what do you think you would need besides bullets CP lollipop throws? Yes if you drafted a guy in the 2nd round & he is the future then it is time for the future. Can you forgot what Denver did when Shanny realized JP was the not he guy & took what he thinks is 3 steps forward by letting JC QB the team. Yes if bringing in KC means we finally get a QB with a rocket arm I vote yes instead of knowing that with CP we will never/ever get to the promised land just like Shanny concluded with JP
Ok. Just wanted to confirm that you are putting your preference of individuals ahead of the good of the team. I will file this one away, champ. You still haven't explained to me how 5-11 in 2007 will translate to a Super Bowl in 2008, or for that matter, how we'll still be living with "hell" until 2010 from the Herm/Bradway regime. Get your story straight and let me know, Buddy.
