Any 3rd string benchwarmer can complete passes and look like a Hall of Famer when not pressured. The true test of a QB's value is what they do when they are pressured. Darnold has yet to show the ability to consistently avoid a heavy pass rush and make big plays. His pocket presence, awareness and decision making needs work. Almost as much work as the rest of the Jets offense.
Similar stat, from my very own burner account. Beachum/Edoga was not a good duo by any means but the pair of Edoga (when forced to play LT with Beachum out) and Shell was absolutely incompetent. No shock at all that the 3 game stretch that Beachum missed Sam’s worst stretch of the season. I don’t even think we need to give Sam elite protection, we just can’t be incompetent like we were during weeks 7-9
Mount Becton needs to protect our boy's blind side. If he does, and I think he will, the league needs to watch out! Sam is ready to roll.
No one is saying he needs a fortress in front of him — just something average and look what he can do.
Sam Darnold has been absolutely fucked over by this stupid franchise. Maccagnans 2019 draft failed to help the kid in any way shape or form, and he'll likely be onto his 3rd HC in 4 seasons in 2021. Very concerned we ruined another top prospect, we need Joe D to put pieces around this guy big time next offseason.
