I mean Sam was under contract with the Jets, right? We traded him, Belli would have had to show up with the best offer in public to trade with the Jets. And they did already go for a different QB insurance package in (washed) Cam Newton. Probably didn't need another one.

Interesting because we are looking to have a worse season and worse QB play than we had this year :)

I personally think Fields sucks. He's got an arm but uses it effectively to throw the ball into the stands or the cheerleaders. Trevor Lawrence likely to be the only NFL QB in that entire "dream draft".

No thanks on geno. And the vikes, I can’t see them letting darnold go. I’ve seen a lot of things suggesting we trade picks for McCarthy. I don’t even watch college , and no.

I think Vikings are going to let Darnold walk, who would give big money to a player for just 1 good year? What if Darnold goes back to sucking next year?

You can't do that. Look at Geno. Once he had a big year, he got a bag. And Sam had a better year, younger, has a better draft pedigree. He finally developed into the guy every thought he was going to be from his College days when teams were Sucking for Sam. I mean if Geno got the bag, so will Sam. It is not even a question in my mind that Minny will retain him. Now to your point, they may not want to trade JJ right away in case Sam sucks, which is very unlikely, but still. Also JJ's value is very low now after the injury, which had complications. But if he comes back, has a good preseason, and all goes as it should with Sam playing well early next season, JJ likely to become available at some point before trade deadline next season.

Boy. That horse has been dead for a few decades long by now. We've got to stop beating it.

P.S. With Woody calling the shot, I'm more than certain Kevin O'Connell will look like a total retard.

It is very unlikely that Vikings are trading McCarthy, Vikings drafted him for the future

it was only a matter of time until Sam played like he did last night

sounds like I am rooting against him. not really. I just don't think he's THAT GUY.

my prediction was his ceiling was prime Andy Dalton. this year is Sams ceiling, at least to me.

wonder what Minny will do if they lose in the 1st playoff game?

They won't bring him back if they lose in the WC round. I can see them fanchising him and looking for a trade partner.

What’s chad pennington up to these days? He’s gotta be under 50. Maybe we can get him to come back? Make him a 3x times comeback player of the year.

Pennington coaches high school and recently won a state championship.

honestly if Aaron Glenn is the HC maybe Pennington is brought in as QB coach or something. Since they played together and Glenn is part of a Detroit staff that values NFL playing experience, maybe he wants to bring that here with him

I tend to agree. We saw glimpses of 2024 Sam while he was here. But you can’t ignore the rest of the body of work.

He proved this year that he’s good enough to start but I think the Vikings would be stupid to pay him as a franchise QB.

right... like this season could be a one-off... his absolute peak....

he is among the ;league leaders in catches above expectation which tends NOT TO BE REPRODUCIBLE

remember Tannehill's run at Tenny? Great supporting cast maxing out what the QB can do.

I like the Tannehill analogy. Great individual year but very little career consistency. You could kind of say the same as Vinny Testaverde's '98 season.
