Yeah, we have a LONG history of truly awful GM and HC hires no doubt. NO ONE wanted Gase, especially not a day after he was fired. NO ONE saw Mac as the next big thing at GM. Same can be said for the litany of shit GMs and HCs we’ve had. However, while JD inherited Gase and didn’t have the power to fire him, I do think JD had the choice to hire Saleh, right? So that hire is on him. At the time, I wanted Daboll as an offensive guy who had developed QBs before, but JD chose Saleh. I think they are on the same page as we’ve totally revamped that defense. But the problem is still with the offense, and as a first time defensive guy, Saleh hasn’t had the experience or ability to build an offense. It will be interesting to see what happens this year, how the team holds up (or doesn’t) and then let’s see what we need to do about the GM and HC. I’m not on the fire them page yet…I think with this roster, if we can finally just fix that OL, then we can be a solid team for a few years…if AR comes back next year, great. If not, then we need a real NFL QB. No more wasting time with Zach unless he somehow flips the switch and shows to be a real NFL QB…odds are against it.
We all saw the opening lights last week, there’s no way they were having that trotting carr out with the flag. Woody and his chain, the huge atmosphere. Problem is, they didn’t look past that opening ceremony. This line was either getting Rodgers hurt at some point, or the build up and disappointment would have resulted in boos by week 4. I’m a rodgers fan, I still want him to come back, but ffs, can somebody in that office use their head about building the line.
Woody has always been a sucker for the flash going back to signing Timmy Tebow. Carr was the logical choice but not the sexy one. Woody wanted headlines and Rodgers was the name that was gonna get them. Especially after that 7 game crash and burn last season, the fanbase had turned on Zach and so had the team. He's lucky this year its been muted because of the Rodgers injury but they can't have many more performances like yesterday. Game 1 was won on emotion. Game 2 was a far more accurate measure of where the '23 Jets really are. FWIW, Rodgers would have been injured eventually behind this All Pro OLine Douglas built to protect him. So would Carr but given the age difference, Carr probably would have had a less severe result.
It amazes me the shortsightedness of some supposed professionals. Reading this board for years, there are plenty of fans who see the freight train coming that those who get paid don’t see.
Amazing what a loss in game 2 does to a fanbase. Not just ours. I'm sure there's great stuff being written in many other fan blogs today. What is the line of demarcation? Is it the point spread? If we lost yesterday by a FG, would Saleh be entering a dangerous spot? I think anything more than a TD brings it out of us.
I’m just saying. He’s likely going to lose his next two games so that means losing 9 of his last 10 games. It’s getting to be alarming.
Well part of it is our history, right? We’ve all seen this shitshow MANY times already. But more specifically here, we currently hold the longest playoff drought in all the major sports. We ended last year on a long losing streak, and our highly drafted QB played so poorly that he was benched. So flash forward to now, and we again are looking at another long season because our QB that played so poorly last year (lowest rated QB, right?) doesn’t really look a whole lot different this year in two games, despite all the eye squinting and digging you can do to look at the bright side. Does our OL suck? Yup…sure does so far after 2 games. Does that impact QB? Sure does. However, the facts are he looks like maybe a few small steps have been made, but overall the QB looks the same. The team still struggles to put drives together, the defenses can still stack the box because no one is afraid of the QB, etc. We’ve all seen this before. Personally, I expected a loss here…tough team to play on a short week on the road. But sure, had we lost a tight game by one score, the feelings would be different. Instead we lost a blowout yet again. Our QB threw for 170 and had 3 picks yet again…I get garbage time and all that, and those picks weren’t maybe what lost us the game, but shit, what about all those other games where a team actually racks up lots of yards in garbage time? Even that would’ve at least been able to give Zach some confidence. But nope. So I think the pessimism is prevalent because we’ve seen this all before, our QB still sucks, our OL sucks, and it’s hard to see what can be done to prevent yet another long season. I’m hoping that our OL will gel as they get more time together, as we don’t play Micah Parsons any more, and let’s see if Zach can raise his play a bit? We’ll see. But the team is going to have to earn that
Even before Tebow, Johnson was the one who pushed for Favre. That turned out badly too, after what was such a hopeful start.
People on here were using revisionist history claiming the Favre deal was a great move when they were arguing for Rodgers
Saleh is walking dead. If he sticks with the Zach is our guy mantra, he and JD will not be back next year.
