Mario at 4, Mangold at 29, Lawson at the top of the 2nd, O'Callaghan in the 3rd, I'm sticking with that as the best way to go and fill all of our needs, except NT, but maybe we'll still sign a FA later like Grady...
Because you never, ever know what other teams are thinking. Houstons most pressing need is Oline so despite Bush being the #1 talent there is a very small chance that they could draft for their need - Ferg, and leave Bush alone. If that does happen then bush would fall to #4. #1 Ferg - Texans #2 mario - Saints #3 Leinart - Titans #4 Bush - Jets
I would think this also means the Saints could swap picks with the Jets and still get the guy they want at #4. It makes New Orleans picking Brick obvious but still leaves the thought of a trade with us a possibility.
You never know. If the Texans do have a brain freeze and take Ferg, then it seems that the Saints have been eyeing him or Mario for the 2nd pick. We all know it wont be Leinart. Its the Titans at 3 that will make the choice for us. Will Chow go with Leinart or will they dance for joy that Bush made it to #3. If they do take Bush then we get Leinart. It would be a win-win situation for us if this does happen.
Of course anything is a possibility, but I seriously doubt this will happen. The majority of people agree that Bush will be going #1 overall. If anything, the Texans would draft Bush with the #1 pick and then trade him away. Bush is too much of a value to pass up. There is about a 0.1% chance of him dropping to #4.
because of the OL depth in this draft, I've definitely contemplated going Defense in R1. if you think about it, with the signing of Dyson and the others, our D - once again (on paper) - is very close to being an elite D. Now, add Mario Williams and a stud OLB to the mix, and the Defense has virtually no weaknesses, except at NT. If the NT problem is solved (i.e. Free Agency, Grady Jackson etc), we've sured up our D in R1 and can go Offense - primarily OL - the rest of the draft. However, Mario Williams at #4 and either Mangold or McNeil at #29 is very enticing. Even more enticing: #4 Mario Williams #29 Mangold #35 McNeil Improve the D and solidify the OL. In my opinion (again, on paper), that makes us competitors. cheers
This is interesting. The Saints may move their RT to LT.... why? Brees is a lefty. They draft Ferguson to play RT, Brees' blind side. I think N.O. is locked onto Ferguson, but want to swap firsts with the Jets and get our 29 in the process. All the more reason NOT to trade up, unless they are in love with Leinart.
Trade scenarios - They may want to trade down. You're too used to The Bradway Way of alerting the world to your every move ; )
