Every time that happens in a game they should be catching 200 sideline passes from a jugs. and every time they DON'T have their thumbs together....5 more.
It's stunning, really. I never thought Jerricho Cotchery would lead the team in drops as the third wide receiver. I keep thinking, "OK, he broke a finger earlier in the year and just hasn't told anyone about it. Right? ...Right?"
Schemes When Brady, Moss and Belichick came together in 2007, the league wasn't ready for the result. It took most of a season for the league to figure things out and start slowing things down. Today's Jets might be in a similar phase of evolution. They had and still have something good, but the book on it has been written. I think there is a need to keep changing things up, but if your original scheme was designed to make the best use of the personnel you have, this is a problem. The coaches might come up with wrinkles on the basic scheme, but...

yeah Kellers hands aren't talked about enough. He drops game changing passes over the middle and in the endzone. Its infuriating.
Stats look even sadder when looked as at the percentage of catchable passes dropped. Cotch is 3rd highest, dropping a whopping 17% of catchable balls thrown at him, behind only Fred Jackson and Brent Celek... Sure its partially a function of the limited number of passes thrown his way, but that makes somewhat scarier actually. Cotchery has to be the most depressing part of it. He was supposed to be Sanchez's security blanket and then decided to have a down year. Hopefully yhis doesn't cost him a job. It would be a shame to lose him over one season.
No wiseass, I mean that RRs scheming masked the lack of passrush in 09. The NFL has obviously figured out a lot of our blitzes and have adjusted; and BT, JT and Pace have been dissapointing in that area.... That being the case, we'll address the personnel in the coming offseason. What's holding us back right now? Inconsistecy on BOTH sides of the ball, and lack of passrush......Give this regime more than 2 yrs to win a SB. I believe it takes several drafts, QB development, smart cap moves, and some fuckin luck to build a consistent winner. It's year 2 for RRs regime and we've made the offs both times. You need to recognize that that bodes well for the future.
According to the "talking heads" RR is stuck in a D that may have worked in 00 but is not workable in 10. They further state what teams are doing that we have no answer for due to us having zero pass rush is the other side is going 5 wide since no protection is needed for there QB & we do not have the players to handle a 5 wide O :jets:
It's shocking how many balls Cotchery has dropped. Before this season it seemed like he never dropped passes.
It's funny, Rex has been running a similar blitz scheme successfully for years, but now all of the sudden it's an outdated scheme that can't work in today's NFL. Not only is it outdated, but it's 10 years outdated. Please. I agree that Rex needs to be more creative, but clearly this has something to do with the personnel too.
According to NFL defensive stats RR's scheme worked plenty well in 09 and is still pretty good in 2010 even with glaring weaknesses in player personnel.
Exactly, if we just had ONE dominant pass rusher this defense would be entirely different. We don't even have one good one at this point.
Cmon man FORGET about last year since it has ZERO bearing on what we have this year. I am also relaying what I am hearing from the expert talking heads that are former players in the NFL & are now so called whizzes at breaking down out team. What happens if what they say is right on the money? :jets:
If the personnel is the problem then RR gets most of the blame since he did not envision that someone out there (Bellycheat) will devise a new O to overcome what RR had used successfully in years past & get the players to counteract that new O :jets:
How can them saying RR's scheme is no longer effective be right on the money when it was proven wrong by RR last year? Your only relaying this information because it was negative. You don't care that it didn't make any sense.
Ah 45 by the Pats & 38 by the Bears leads me to that conclusion + what all the talking heads are saying as well. We better hope for KC because they may be more controllable then Indy. Manning will do to us just what Cutler & Brady did :jets:
