I actually love this sort of idiotic threads. Helps me in keeping the list of bone-headed posters up to date.
He was taking about QB throwing into double and triple coverage after running 20 back from LOS. Pretty sure it's not Fitz.
I agree with you 100%, a good backup understands their role as a backup. This guy doesn't and we just got done with a QB who didn't understand their role as a backup with Vick.
The hate for the guy is strong, we all know he's a sucky QB. At this point I have got to believe that a portion of what's wrong with his game has to do with Rex Ryan and how he choose to handle the QB situation during his time here. Our new regime feels Geno has enough to keep him around and frankly I'd have liked to seen what they could have done with him; because the kid throws a pretty deep ball. At this point I doubt he gets another chance to start here unless Fitz implodes or gets hurt.
Lol at clowns defending this guy as a good backup. It's the same thing that happened when people wanted to move Matt Schaub into the elite quarterback category and look how that worked out.
Right now it looks like our Qb for 2016 is going to be Fitz. With Geno in the final year of his rookie deal as backup (he's due around 1.6 in 2016 and he's a UFA in 2017). As of now we're getting adequate play out of the Qb position. But let's face it Fitz's past history has been inconsistency. And after he got the big contract with Buff he regressed. He's making 3.25 in 2015 and he's a UFA in 2016.
I'm not sure what to make of Geno right now.... obviously the coaches feel there is some value there and they don't view him as a distraction. I think he'd actually do ok with the WR's we have because I don't think his issues ever came from the fact that he couldn't make the throw. I think it was more with the fact that his football IQ wasn't very good.
That's where coaching comes in, he might be a dope but there is a chance with proper nurturing the kid could have gotten his head screwed on straight. I look at Sanchez and I look at Geno during their time here. Both played football in a way that was amateurish and messy. Every now and then they both looked crisp but I feel like that was in spite of the coaching rather than being because of it. What's happening in Buffalo with Tyrod Taylor has zero to do with actual coaching. The kid is shooting from the hip and running around like a madman which is exactly what Rex has always wanted. The only problem with that is your QB getting his jimmies rustled. With that being more or less what happened a few weeks ago. When Geno came in we knew he had some maturity and ego issues. When he cat sulked and talked about not coming back for round 2. I knew he needed to grow up and hopeed we stayed away from him. Our coaching staff at the time wasn't one that offered much in the way of making that happen. We drafted him anyway and he was left alone to do his own thing. In the end all that got him was a punch to his face. We'll see what happens, but there is always the chance that he gets another shot in camp next season. This year spent on the bench could be exactly what the doctor ordered.
