I don't know, did you see any shots of Ryan on the sideline in yesterday's game against the Titans? That man is carrying quite a belly in front of him, he could have a giant grabber in the middle of a classic New York Media penetrating press conferences.

as i said before, the interview shouldn't be as important as what they've seen on the field if woody/tanny have half a brain. ryan has all summer to familiarize himself with our players , the interview should consist of:
"are you looking to be a HC?"

    "yes"

    "how much you want?"

While I agree. If that was the interview, how would you decide Ryan or Spags? While the interview shouldnt be the end all be all, it needs to count for something.

Anyone watch the Baltimore game last night?

Baltimore runs a 3-4 but there were many occasions in which they had 4 or even 5 guys up on the line of scrimmage as down linemen. They often had 8 men in the box, though the blitz wasn't coming as often as I would've expected...

The point is though, they weren't playing a 1-2-8, and they were often successful.

That said, I still would rather Steve Spagnuolo end up as the Jets coach next season.

what decides it for me Spags/Ryan....I wan't spags, he contained the Pats and that to me speaks volume, if you can put together a scheme that will beat the Pats, then you can put together a scheme that can beat anyone.

This debate has raged on the board for days. that point only comes into play if both guys are equal in all other categories that matter. I believe Ryan will be the better coach, but if the brass feels Spags was going to be the better coach, they gotta give spags the job regardless of the fact Ryan runs a 3-4. Maybe he pulls a Tomlin and gives the reigns to a 3-4 coach.

I still want Ryan, but you need an interview to determine the little things in a coach. Like how well he prepares, how much he really cares about the game. For god's sake you may never have met him before, and he might be an idiot! And his players may make him better than he really is.

Point is, this is why you interview, to find the perfect guy to fill the open position. Ryan is my choice, but it really really needs to be Ryan or Spags, whichever guy they deem is the right man for the job.

that seems fair i guess , but 3-4 . 4-3 debate aside i think u can tell the guy is no idiot after watching the games and amazing blitzes and things. if we find out that ray lewis has been devising game plans for the last 10 years then i guess we'd be in trouble

Unfortunately for us, Rex's stock is rising very quickly. Keeping offenses like Miami and Tenn 10 points or under in play-offs, on the road, is nothing short of remarkable. Needless to say, Rex will be HC in NFL next year. He will have a choice of the team to join, we just need to keep our fingers crossed. He is by far the best candidate for us right now. We might have to wait until SuperBowl to get him, and our owner is not exactly very patient nor smart. We might get luckly though if Rex gets popular enough winning SB, since Woody likes to do what's popular.

how is that unfortunate for us? if anything, it'll make the jets more likely to sign him. even if he does become a more desirable candidate, the competition for him doesn't change - the jets wouldn't be at much of a disadvantage competing with the Lions and Rams. THe Broncos seem to have settled elsewhere.

The user name possibilities are endless if we hire Ryan, for that reason I hope we do.

The right choice for us is Steve Spagnuolo... not Rex Ryan...
