The riff between Bellicheck and Mangini was that when Mangini knew he was going to NY, he tried to coax some of the pats coaching staff to come with him. This is the main reason BB was/is pissed at Mangini. There have been numerous mentions of this in articles. Your next point, I do not think BB was worried about Mangini's 'geniusness'. A 1 year defensive coordinator does not a genius make. Some of you guys may not want to admit this, however Herm was more prepared as a first time coach than Mangini was.

wow, so you never anticipate or forecast into the future. I wish I had a life where I not only didn't have to make decisions based on potential future outcomes, but didn't even find the practice neccessary. put that head in the sand and pretend everything is okay, buddy.

Don't you think you're being a little irrational? It's 7 games in. Let the guy make some changes. He's a rookie coach and this is the Jets. If you can't handle misery, go find another team to cheer for.

that's the point, we are all waiting for the changes, and he isn't making them, and change number 1 has to be at QB.

If I were to pick a year to shit the bed... it would fall on the 07 season. Might as well crown the Pats as SB champs and in my time watching football, I've never seen such dominance on both sides of the ball by one fucking team. It's the most painful season I've ever witnessed as a Jet fan by a long shot! Being 1-6 I can at least say hey... at least were not 4-3 or 3-4 only to miss the playoffs or get embarrassed by the Pats or the Colts in the playoffs to receive a shitdraft pick. But looking at our history... it doesn't matter where we draft...Welcome to the top 5 2007 NYJ's... you better trade that thing away and get more picks too.

With our "patience" in the FA... and the lack of 06 draft picks really put a hamper on a team trying to rebuild from the ground up. But hey... we gave Wadsworth and Haynes a second chance. Jesus.

No i honestly thought we would be 6 and 10. That was my prediction. If you looked last year we won games but the yardage our defense gave up was enormous. We also had a joke of a schedule.

I expected this year to be much worse. We were bad last year but we schemed our way to wins. Good teams don't scheme their way to wins they attack and execute their way to wins. We didn't attack anyone last year we played it close to the vest and waited out while other bad teams self destructed. This year the book is out, we simply need better personal and a QB with an NFL arm to take another step. We have drafted well and cut a lot of crap out of the cap. This team is moving in the right direction, it's just not going to show up in wins for awhile. I love the job Mangini is doing, I don't love a few on his staff but I'm sure that will change. The guy is a good desciplined coach and is running a very good program. They do their homework they have the players in shape and doing real professional preperation. There is no magic bullet. We need more good players.

Mangini has this team going in the right direction.

The biggest difference between this year and last is Chad is considerably worst. Though we are playing a "harder" schedule, A couple of key drives here and there that Chad made last year is the difference between us being 3-3 instead of 1-6. We need more Defensive talent and a Better QB.

The way I see it is Chad isn't considerably 'worse' , hes no good at playing catch-up or preserving a lead with a D that continues to buckle every time they take the field.
Lets hypothesis , We have the Ravens D , the patriots O line WITH Chad , would he still suck?

If we had superman at QB would the team win???

The ability to perform in perfect situations does not show a players worth, it shows his detriment. If everything has to be great around Chad for him not to suck, then he does.

His inability to put up yards and points in the second halves and 4th quarters of games makes him much worse then last year. And no matter how good everything on your team is, a QB that stinks in the fourth quarter isn't winning anything. Pick any OLine and D in history that you want, they aren't winning with a bad 4th quarter QB.

Chad would still suck but those teams would win, they would just lose to the Colts or whatever team Brady was on in the playoffs.

I agree with the first part, how we schemed our way to wins last year and waited for opponents to lose, however I can't agree that anybody who is performing as badly as Mangini has performed this year is a good, disciplined coach.

I also can't agree that we're moving in the right direction when I see more gaps this year on the team (the defensive line at the crying point, the offensive line even weaker than last year's disaster, the QB situation becoming a laughingstock trending towards a controversy) than Mangini and company inherited. Mawae is playing quite well in Tennessee, BTW.

I think the OL is better than last years and improving and I have no concern about the QB controversy until after the bye and there isn't a person on this board who wants to see a new QB on this team more than I do. I'm amazed every time I see Chad take the field as a starting NFL QB.

My primary issue is the defense. It is absolutely staggering to me that an ex-New England coach could be putting such a putrid piece of crap on the field game after game and well into his second season with the team. I look at Romeo Crennel in Cleveland and I see our future. Although truthfully I think Crennel is a better coach than Mangini at this point.

The line is definitely weaker than what we had last year. Last year we had people like Derrick Blaylock and Kevin Barlow staggering behind the line and there was an excuse for the lack of production. This year Thomas Jones is getting shut down by the likes of Buffalo and Cincinnati.

The big difference between this year and last year? Last year we had most of the tough part of the schedule out of the way early and we had a bunch of weak sisters coming our way in the second half. This year? Just watch.

Thomas Jones was hurt in TC and I believe he hasn't been fully healthy yet. The pass protection has been mostly excellent going against a stacked up D in every single game.

The pass protection was very poor against New England, Baltimore and Philly and was questionable against the Giants and Bills. Jet's QB's are on a pace to get sacked 39 or 40 times which would be 5 or 6 more than last year and topped only by the disaster in 2005 when half the offensive line got hurt and the other half was playing out of position.

The second half of the season? Well we have 4 of the top 8 sackers in KC, Pittsburgh, New England and Dallas on the schedule. My guess is the Jets give up 45+ sacks this season.
