I'm firmly against us trading up for anyone in this draft class. We have too many needs and a lack of depth across the board. Targetting one position or player at any spot in the top 6 is not in our best interest. W/ that said...if i had to pick a poison and choose a player for us to trade up for..it'd be DMac. Despite the nutty gripes of an attention seeking Mike Mayock and Jet fans who are attached to Gholston, Dmac is trly the only elite prospect in this draft. he has the highest upside and is the closest thing to a playmaker. I can at least BUY the arguement that this team sorely needs a playmaker on either side of the ball and the opp. to get one does not come around often..making DMAC an attractive option
The best thing the Jets can do is pass on Mcfadden. Either take Long or Gholston or trade with Dallas.
I started a thread yesterday to intice discussions on how the 'NE factor' may influence our draft descion making. most responders said 'nada, ziltch, fuck ne'. The jets would never consider/worry about what player the pats may take, and how beneficial that player may be to the pats. but in this thread, with romurs for ne moving up to get gholston, everybody is like 'holy shit, we got to trade coleman to prevent that'. well, what is it? is there a NE factor or not? and if there is, it would make several interesting side bar conversations.
wow-i hope if there is news, it doesnt get mergerd in a thread... i just waited 42 seconds of my time sifting past the first post of this one
QFT. Theres no point really unless they want to guarantee we get one of the Longs, Gholston, or McFadden. We really aren't giving up much according to the rumored deal.
As sexy as the McFadden pick is, I agree. The best thing they can do is probably trade down since major needs (CB, WR) cannot be addressed at #6.
besides tackles, what else has Kenyon Coleman done? what he have for sacks, two maybe? As far I see it, he is one of the problems on the line that can't stop the run.
Still not enough value for the #4 pick even with all of those. 100 points shy. They would have to throw in their 3rd too. That's why it will never happen.
This is why this deal is being floated. Tannenbaum and Mangini are trying to stay 1 step ahead of the anti-Christ (BB) ats_suck:. The pats are also exploring their options. You know the games we play during the season with Pats are almost anti-climatic when you see how both teams try to get ahead of the other guy during the off season.
I hate those guys on our defense that go around tackling people...whats up with that? tackle this guy, tackle that guy....what fun is that?
Why is that? Your just blind kid, you only think about McFadden and I wouldnt be surprised to see some drool on your bed pillow. The only thing you respond with is "jets will take mcfadden" no argument or logic behind it what so ever. Heres to hoping you follow McFadden to which ever team he goes to because you truly are not a Jets fan. Youth?
That trade doesn't make sense to me unless C. Long is there... but even then it would seem hard to pull the trigger on that trade
Without question, you are an ill-informed fan and didn't watch a down of Jets football last year. Coleman was actually the highlight of an otherwise putrid D-Line. He led the line in tackles and certainly stood out. You do know that 2 sacks is actually quite admirable for a 3-4 DE right? They aren't supposed to put up Abraham-esque numbers (when his vag. is not sprained) game in and game out. Go back and watch some film...
I thought about it and i realized why would they want Coleman, where does he fit, UT, maybe but didnt they just sign Kelly. De, i think he would be to slow. Where would he fit into the 4-3 or atleast where would he fit into the raiders team.
