Well, I am a huge Robby fan so that swap just pissed me off from start to finish lol I agree with the rest though, again on paper it always looks good. I said in my original reply that I thought he had made mistakes and he has, nobody swings and hits 100% hell, what was the percentage somebody put up on here the other day for successful franchises well regarded in draft selections, I can't remember now but it was a lot lower than you think, but on top of all that Belly Lies just flat out hates JD lol
One other point....it’s not really two years into the rebuild yet, right? He was hired after the draft and after free agency, so he’s only had one draft so far, and this year was his second free agency, so once we get through this draft, then it’ll be two full offseason’s of work for JD. and he was clearly solving for the long...gathering picks, no big free agent deals his last year...they were all short stop gap type guys until this second free agency last month. So far, I like that he has approached free agency different than Mac, who went for the big splashes with Trumaine, Bell, Mosley, etc. I like JDs approach which seems to be going after younger guys more on the upswing....he’s banking on potential instead of paying for past performance. It may be reasonable to expect that he may not hit on all of them, but hopefully he hits more than he misses, as Macs record here was pretty bad...
