I know Herm wants the trade but he isn't the GM. Carl Peterson is and I don't know if he would pull the trigger. They would be getting a starting QB and WR for a draft pick that has a 50% of being a bust. It would make more sense to me if the Jets would send our 2nd round pick to the Chiefs.

He had to be that dumb or desperate when he hired Herm.

Coles is the heart and soul of this team, no way Mangini moves him. Coles is his prototype football player....

Honestly I don't see any franchise QB's in this years draft. Please don't say the Hawaii guy (Brennan). Which 3 franchise QB's have this regime passed on? Culter and Young are good...but the jury is still out on them, though Young looks like the real deal. Leinart is a over hyped bum and most knew that when he was in USC. Also those QB's I mentioned went through a full training camp/offseason as a starter.

The jets will not draft a QB in the 1st round. KC has all next year to prove himself and I think he will be fine. Maybe a 4th round QB.

I would hate, absolutely HATE, to lose Coles for a second time.

We're not doing anything in the next year or two with or without Coles & Penny. If there is truth behind this deal, you have to make it. Of course I don't believe it's true, because we'd be ripping the Chiefs off. Maybe if we were the ones sending back the 4th rounder & a future pick, it would sound a bit more fair.

Another thing to consider for those who don't believe Kellon is the answer, what about taking the Chiefs' pick and trading down with Cleveland for Quinn or Anderson? Of course I believe Kellon is good enough & that we'd be better served taking an OL & DL with those 2 picks.

Brohm or Matt Ryan are both Franchise QB's --- I said it when he was drafted ( saw enough of him at Oregon) , I said it this year in training camp , i said it when everyone was calling for Chads head and I am saying it now ---
Kellen is not the answer for this franchise.

And the Hawaii guy will have a better NFL career than Clemens.

There is plenty of OL and DL talent that can be had in rounds 2 through 5. And if this trade was to happen they would still have another #1 for a DL.

I agree. I am not crazy about Brennan, Woodson, Brohm, or Ryan. Woodson might be the best of the four, but his throwing motion really concerns me.

A wild card is Josh Johnson. He put up gaudy Tom Brady-like stats this season (43 TDs, 1 INT) for the University of San Diego. Probably nobody on this site has even seen the guy play, so none of us can really comment on him with any conviction.
He is apparently a good guy and a smart football player. Keep in mind, Tony Romo also came from a no-name, lower level school.

I agree with this. The Jets should draft a QB in one of the middle rounds. Josh Johnson?
If Clemens blows in 2008, then goodbye.

I am surprised Clemens has been this poor. I knew he was going to be a gunslinger, but I thought he would be a good gunslinger. I expected him to take chances and throw picks, but a 4/9 TD/INT ratio and a 52.2 completion percentage are big concerns. I figured his numbers would be more like 8/8 and 56.5 at this point. It is really too early to bury the guy, though. That's why I think he should still enter the offseason as the #1 guy and Pennington should be put out to pasture.

Its so Herm. The guy has never understood the value of a first round pick. He thought Doug Jolley was worth a first rounder.

Coles and Penny are on the down side of their careers. A trade like this would be a great help.

The cap hit for trading both Coles and Pennington in the same year would be brutal. Add to that having two top 10 picks and having to give out signing bonuses that are through the roof and this trade doesn't make much sense financially. Coles still has at a minimum 2 or 3 more productive seasons and I don't know even know how you replace him. If you drafted someone this year it would still take 2 or 3 years for them to get to an elite level. We have a young quarterback, the last thing you do is trade him away his best wide reciever.

No way, Coles is a great receiver and the ultimate blood and guts player. I want him to remain a Jet for the rest of his career

The chiefs are the oldest team in the NFL, no way they give up their 1st rounder and other picks for CP and LC. Plus it's going to be a top 10 pick, I can see a 2nd rounder and other picks but not their 1st. That trade would most certainly get Herm fired at the end of next season and screw the Chiefs for years to come. The Chiefs line is not what it used to be, ask LJ, Chad would not be productive with that offensive line. If it does happen the Jets get 2 starters/impact players from the draft.

Hopefully Stuckey will be healthy next year and make an impact at WR.

We can not trade our best reciever just because he is turning 30. Chad to KC is fine, I'll take my second day pick for Chad, Coles needs to be here. Just like to point out that our young QB needs weapons, and taking away his best one is stupid. Lets also factor in how well Cotchery played this season with Coles, and how bad he played when Coles left...

These would be the best thing Edwards ever did for the Jets.

Do it, as much as I love coles, that deal is too sweet. We can always draft a young stud WR.
