I would like to see the draft standings broken up into 8 team sections and randomized. Bottom 8, middle bottom 8, ect...
- No more divisions. Have an AFC and NFC. Everyone plays everyone once in their conference and one from the other conference based on where they finished the year before. Alternating home and away every year. Radical...but fair to reward the better teams and not the 7-9 division winners. - 15 yards for DPI like College. - 5 yard penalty for offensive holding not 10 yards - 10 yard buffer for DBs to touch WRs. Not 5.
You'd also see more plays per game, and therefore more TDs and INTs per game. That would probably boost ratings. It'd also make it harder to run down the clock at the end of the game, so there might be more exciting games that come down to one drive. In the short term it'd remove a ton of experienced players that can't quickly be replaced, and that would be a downside. But overall I agree it'd be a good change.
Can't say I really agree with 15 yards for DPI because it would encourage defensive players to just tackle guys if they get beat deep A better answer would be to let pass interference and other game changing penalties be reviewable. If coaches want to waste a timeout on something that is a judgment call then so be it. Especially when pass interference can be the biggest difference in a game Another thing I've always thought was unfair was if there is a false start they blow it dead immediately but for an offside it is a free play for the offense. They should both be blown dead or let them both go and let the O or D accept or decline based on the outcome of the play I never thought a fumble that went out of bounds should automatically go back to the offense at that spot. Nobody has possession at that point so to be fair, I think if the offense fumbles out of bounds they should maintain possession but get the ball back at their own 20 Chip in the ball technology needs to be utilized to determine if the ball crossed the goalline. That is too easy of a solution to pass up
I disagree....it works fine in college football....and you would eliminate those very questionable PI calls on 50 yard throws....that result in a spot foul at the one... Reviewing calls would extend the length of games which are already too long.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't see how it would extend the length of the game if it was the same as any other review. I'm not talking an automatic booth review, but a coaches challenge
eliminate instant replay. It's done nothing but slow the game way down, make things more complicated for the refs, make every play a question mark.. and ultimately they just usually go with the call on the field anyway. "the play on the field stands".. (inconclusive NO SHIT)
Disagree on the elimination of instant replay, in fact I'd like to see quick reviews of most game changing penalties, could be done in the booth in the length of time it takes to get in to a huddle without breaking game play at all. Only reverse he completely erroneous penality calls, like non existent face masks, non existent PI etc....no slow down of the game flow at all. The technology is there to review seamlessly without interruption to game flow except in cases of reversal.
I'd also like to get rid of the damned taunting penalty, this is NFL football...why change a game because someone did a borderline action. I can understand it in extreme cases but c'mon man, some of these calls have been just damned silly. These are grown well paid men, if we're going to be that conscious of player feelings lets add a mercy rule where the game ends when there's a 28 point lead.
I see your point but at the same time you don't want too much of that taunting crap going on...it's garbage ...the same with flashing the first down sign after an 7 yard out pattern when your team is getting housed on the scoreboard... Now if you're referring to questionable calls like Vick's taunting vs the Steelers where he basically dropped the ball on the sideline and was flagged...then I agree with you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The players should wear bras and tinfoil hats, use a balloon instead of a ball, and give hugs and compliments to the opposing team instead of tackling them.
Where do you draw the line, I say let the players sort it out. There's a reason old timers didn't do a lot of that because back in the day you'd get your butt busted for it....literally. Tired of a 'feel good' league that changes outcomes on questionable referee calls on non game issues.
that would be horrible. 5 hour+ football games here we come. If you look closely at most every play you could find a penalty of some sort.. that's what would happen eventually if you opened your can of worms. Arguing EVERY SINGLE PLAY
the worst part of instant replay now is the review of every single scoring play and turnover. I don't see how fans can possibly like that. Look at last night. Talib makes an amazing INT for TD, a very fun play that made football what it is today and exhilarates the fans. But WAIT! we have to bring the game and all the enthusiasm gained in the game to a halt and take 5 minutes and look over and over a play that the referees will announce "stands" anyway. happens in every game, every week... just terrible
If you're injured and the clock has to stop to get you off the field you're out for the rest of the series. I hate seeing defensive players laying on the ground faking injuries to slow down a team in a hurry up offense. At least make them sit on the bench for a while afterward.
I'm not talking about adding penalties, I'm talking about a quick review of a called penalty while the process is in motion. The game is already stopped by the penalty anyway, a quick video review while the officials on the field are sorting things out would not in any way lengthen the game or the process, but it would prevent bad calls from changing a game.
Really with the technology we have today you could replace the entire field crew except one referee to physically place the ball and have all the referee work done via video from the sidelines. No slowdown at all and if I referee was unsure if to throw a flag he could do a quick slow motion replay on his screen...again no delay and no different than a late flag that we see so often on the field anyway. I'm sick of seeing refs with bad calls changing games...let the game be decided by the players and coaches and not by a ref who saw something that wasn't there.
Wait ! Better yet, why don't we just have fantasy HD digital Madden Football every Sunday on national TV. Get rid of the entire human element.
