I don't really get that out of this article. I think he was just trying to say the right thing and not be yet another vet released from Atlanta. I think a 2 year 5 million dollar deal wouldn't be too much to offer and could motivate him to come to NYC>

If we don't make the playoffs the first roster move for next season might be finding a coach. After that the next move might be finding a QB when Farve calls it quits. If these events play themselves out then there will be dozens of moves to follow. We will have to get players to complimet the new Regime and Qb. In other words we should see progress sometime around the middle to end of the 2010 season.

If Favre stays, our main need is another solid CB. Revis can't cover all the guys. Lowery, Law, Barret, Poteat? You got to be kidding.

Lowery is a risk taker. He's either going to get burned or deflect the ball or knock it out. Remember, he does those other two things just as well as the first. In limited play (half year starter, half year nickel back), he is one of the best in the league both at forcing fumbles and at deflecting passes, whereas the rest of the players up there are full time starters. Find an average coverage safety to play over the top that lets Kerry Rhodes actually get involved in the play and Lowery can be the #2.

This is, of course, taking the liberal definition of "burned" that you guys seem to use, which is "allowing catches". Lowery doesn't get beaten over the top (which is what getting burned is) too often and he's quick to react to a short pass or running play. I honestly feel that he is another victim of Mangini's ridiculous policies, just like Keller. When was our passing defense worse? Law starting with soft zones because he can't play man, or Lowery starting with the defense manning up and picking on him?

I think that Lowery needs to not allow catches for this defense to improve. The LBs as a unit cannot cover well. However if you have 2 CBs on the outside that can cover you can just put Rhodes on the TE and alleviate that problem. This was my logic in chasing Sheppard.

I'm not saying that the idea of getting a coverage safety is bad, but I think a good #2 CB is a higher priority.

Cool ideas, lito sheppard is one of my favorite non jet players in the league (and i hate the eagles, oh christ) but I always wanted him on the jets I thought that would be awesome. As for coles, ship his ass out to miami, he is less than impressive and is a complete primadonna. And ty law? Come on, get him out of here too.

The season isn't over, the team is fighting for a playoff spot, and the mental masturbation for next season has begun. Amazing. :breakdance:

Signing Brandon Jacobs as a free agent would help more than all of these ideas.
