"Struggling CB Antonio Cromartie admitted his 2015 season thus far "hasn’t been good," adding, "it’s not up to my standards." He said he must improve his technique. Cromartie sat out the loss to Buffalo because of a deep thigh bruise, but Bowles said he would not bench him, and that he will start Sunday at Houston if he is healthy enough to do so." Also just watched Bowles' latest presser...and here we go again with ignoring obvious "facts" or just signs that everybody sees and realizes, that even the reporters are pointing out and yet Bowles for whatever reason just wants to stick with starting Cromartie. Is this blind confidence/faith/loyalty at this point? Doesn't he owe it to the team to play the best players? Reporter: "Will Cromartie start if he plays?" Bowles: "Yes." Reporter: "Why is that?" Bowles: "Because he's the starter." Reporter: "Why is he the starter?" Bowles: "Because he earned it over the summer and over the years." Really? I remember him getting torched on a daily basis in camp, pre season and the regular season as well. But back to the bench you go, Marcus Williams. Apparently being old is now a criteria to start somebody.
Our 4-12 team didn't upgrade every single position of weakness in one single off season? What a disaster!!! Rome was indeed built in a day!
Do you know what thread you are in, titled roster decisions/ mismanagement? Do I really need to spell out the relevance of my comment of not improving the roster at every position in one single off season to this thread?
Yes, Bowles is stubborn when it comes to starting rookies over vets, but he can't hold a candle to Parcells or even Rex. Parcells seemed to actually despise rookies. Keep in mind when you bench a vet, it's really hard to 'go back'. For some reason, it just is. A HC has to be VERY sure he knows what he's getting before making the change. His very job depends on it.
What you COULD do is try to read what we're talking about, maybe then you'd know what the issue is. Don't just yell out random shit like you have tourette's.
It's not like anyone is asking to replace a productive vet for an unknown young player. Cromartie is struggling and we have a young guy that has shown himself to be better, the obvious choice is to play the young guy. That kind of stubbornness could be his downfall.
No, I clearly am the one of the two of us that grasps the broad issues this thread raises and have addressed that accurately. Go back and read the opening post, if you can't see the specific issue raised that the roster was not upgraded at specific positions and how that pertains to my comment that it isn't realistic to expect a 4-12 team to upgrade all positions in one off season then please extend my sympathies to your loved ones who clearly still have to wipe your mouth when you dribble baby food from it and have to clean your tushy when it comes out the other end.
This will prob be Cro's last chance to redeem himself, I am fine with Bowles going to the Cro well one more time.
I wrote the opening post you imbecile, in case you still haven't grasped it. @The 1985er hit the nail on the head just right above your post, as did the rest of the people that chimed in. This thread is not about who we failed to sign in the offseason, who we didn't draft, it's about the conscious decisions the coaching staff, the front office has made and continues to make to head a certain direction, that hasn't and isn't working out currently. Playing Cromartie over Marcus Williams would be one example. Now what exactly does that have to do with us not signing the best corner? In fact we want the high priced FA pickup (Cro) to hit the bench for a guy who was here last year. What does Pace playing in the nickel over Mauldin have to do with what you posted, the garbage you brought up? What does that have to do with not signing certain guys or not improving at every position? Why did the coaching staff, the front office decide to keep one of the return specialists we had on the roster? Instead counting on guys like Zac Stacy to be our primary kick returners, and have a guy like Devin Smith play special teams (KR), something he has never really done, only to fumble away another win? This was a conscious decision the coaching staff has made, to not roll with a return specialist, so we can keep somebody else on the roster instead. A bum like Bowen who doesn't even contribute. Did that work out? I don't think so. Now finally we're working out return specialists. I'm not gonna go over the entire thing again, I could just ask you to actually read the opening post because odds are you probably just saw the headline and then went on to post your garbage where you trying to make it look like people are asking Bowles/Macc to be fired for not bringing in all the elite free agents, how they didn't improve at every position. Very ignorant, but I'm sure you hear this all the time.
Then try understanding your own argument. bringing up the TE position not being addressed after the Amaro injury is clearly intended to criticize the decision makers for not improving that position. As I stated, relevantly, not all positions are going to be able to be resolved in one single off season, so your expectation that it could or should be is as ignorant as your understanding of your own argument. How embarrassing that you aren't even aware of your own argument.
What's your problem with not addressing the TE situation? It turned out to be a disaster so I'm not sure what your point is. Everybody and their mother wanted the team to address the TE situation, they decided not to. It's not because they couldn't, they just didn't want to, they didn't see any reason to. Otherwise they would have done it. There were loads of FA's available, especially after Amaro got hurt. It didn't happen in week 10, it happened before the season even started. There were loads of TE's available, lots of time to bring in a capable backup or even a starter. The team a different direction, it was their decision. That has nothing to do with not being able to improve every position. They could have traded for a TE, one of the half dozen TE's that were traded before the deadline. The one team that needed a TE badly decided to roll with guys like Kellen Davis and Cumberland. Again, that has nothing to do with not being able to improve at every position. Same goes for the KR issue, Pace playing over Mauldin, Cro being ahead of Marcus, Snacks playing in the nickel over Coples. Stuff that doesn't work out. That's why you're not making any sense. Imagine driving around in your 1983 Volkswagen, you see a sign that says "stop and turn around or something bad will happen". You ignore the sign and suddenly something bad happens. Are you shocked? No. Was it a bad decision? Yes. So this is a simplified version for you, maybe you'll get it this time.
It has nothing to do with my having a problem or not with not getting a different player. Bringing in different players does not equate to improving the position. Romo got hurt and Cassel was available, but did they improve the team by brining in Cassel? No, they didn't. At some point you make the decision to see what the player you have on the roster can do rather than brining in another player that isn't any more of a viable option.
But that's exactly my point. This isn't about bringing in high priced free agents to somehow fix this team overnight. We have the solutions on our squad to improve the team yet the moves aren't being made. We're sticking with the guys that have cost us games this year, guys who haven't played well, guys that have struggled bigtime. Pace is not a good pass rusher, he has no business playing over Mauldin in the nickel. Especially after his 2 sack breakout performance. Snacks is awfully ineffective in the nickel, he has no business playing over guys like Coples who can generate some pass rush from the inside, maybe even Douzable, anybody. Demario Davis has been utter garbage, there is no reason why he should be getting 100% of the snaps each game with how much he struggles against the run and the pass, when we have 2 options on the bench in Henderson and Lattimore that do well against the run and/or the pass. We've tried to ignore certain issues since camp. How Cro struggled. Bowles was asked in camp whether he's worried about Cro and of course he said no, basically everything is going to work out. It hasn't. He's sucked. Cro was asked about his performance in camp, he said he's just testing out different things, basically implying he's doing it on purpose, like all he has to do is pull the on/off switch and he'll be great when he stops "testing" things out. Well, didn't work out that way. He's been terrible so far. Nothing changed. He's not getting any younger either, it's not going to change, he's not gonna be elite suddenly in a year. When you have Marcus Williams on the bench, why don't you play him? He had a good game last week, he's tied 2nd in the NFL in interceptions with 4 even though he barely sees the field. How do you justify playing Cromartie over him? Because he's old? Because he earned it for his camp performance when he was getting torched every day by nobodies who aren't even on the roster anymore? How did he earn it? I think Cro earned this job when the franchise committed to paying him 8 mil. this year. That's when they guaranteed him the starting job for the entire '15 season no matter what. Has nothing to do with what he did in camp or preseason. He was utter garbage from day one. I'm not sure how this can be compared to the Cowboys losing their franchise player, their star QB. They sure as hell are better off now with Cassell than they would be with Weeden who they got rid of. So yeah, it was the right move to bring in Cassell (actually trade for). Is he as good or better than Romo? Of course not, that's ridiculous.
What MORE does Cromartie have to do to lose his job? He is one of the worst rated CBs in the NFL right now, why would Bowles expect that to turn around?
