Then that's probably where Clemens learned. I know he could still throw 100+ into his 40s.

Well, maybe now the Yankees finally have a pitcher who will back Ortiz off the plate.

You guys act like this is some sort of surprise. It was a foregone conclusion before all the injuries that Clemens will be a Yank again. Credit to the Yankees for getting it done before it was to late.

Clemens will retire for good when a definitive test for human growth hormone is found. Just another Yankee cheater like Giambi is and Sheffield was. Whatever happened to Yankee Pride? You could almost see the foam coming out of Roger's mouth in the 2000 World Series. The guy is obviously on something.

I agree with anyone who calls Roger and Jason a cheater. Just like Bonds, Big Mac, and Slammin' Sammy.

I want every single cheater in the game thrown out.

The only problem is, at least half the league would be gone overnight. And that's every team, including the Mets. If you honestly believe that at least half the players on every single team are not using something illegally, then you're just closing your eyes, covering your ears, and screaming "NANANANANANANA I CAN'T HEAR YOU! NANANANANANANANA"

Is it right to allow it, which baseball is doing? Nope. Will it stop? Nope. Too much money to be made. It's unfortunate, but that's the way it is.

That is absolutely ridiculous. It's almost not even worth a response. If they really wanted to give Matsuzaka an extra day, they would just bring up Lester as the fifth starter and have Tavarez start once a week. And if they had Clemens, why would they have him throw once a week and keep Tavarez as the fifth starter? Not to mention that they have given NO indication whatsoever that they intend to go with a six man rotation. Why would they want to change anything, when they have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball at the moment? Do you think about what you type or just pull it out of your ass?

Except that the Red Sox are playing .667 ball, and are EXACTLY at their expected W-L based on their runs scored and allowed. There's no reason at the moment to believe that they will fall off the table. Again, try thinking first, THEN typing.

Its may, wake me up if your playing .667 ball going into August. 5 game division lead in May is nothing.

I'm not saying they will be at .677 all year, but what in the world would make anyone think that a .500 record will win the AL East? And the 5 1/2 game lead might not mean much, but it is the biggest in all of baseball.

The yanks are obviusly going to be right there for the division by seasons end. Dont fooled by a month or Darrell Rasner, and Chase Wright. This isnt the first time we have trailed the division by this many games, this early

Man, and I thought it was tough defending the Yankees...

What else can Boston do to impress people? I hate the Sox, and even I'm impressed. They thrashed us, and they continue to win. Have they lost a series yet this year?

Beckett is the pitcher the Sox signed. Whereas, our ex-Marlin is not. Schilling is still a good pitcher, while now our counter is the Rocket, so who knows. Matsuzaka? I'd say even when he pitches poorly, he's the better Japanese import between us this year. Wakefield can still dominate any team that doesn't play in the Bronx. We counter with who? Rasner?

Okay, so we have Wang, Pettitte, Moose, now Clemens, and the fifth spot is open until Hughes returns. The Sox have Beckett, Schilling, Matsuzaka, Wakefield (and who? I can't think of who your 5th guy is right now...)

    Advantage Sox.

We have the advantage of a better lineup, but pitching wins titles.

Exactly, the way I see it every team had 1/2-3/4 of their players using illegal substances so calling the Yankees a cheating team is stupid because I think every team had many players like this throughout the 80s and 90s and into these last few years.

I heard the tape of of Suzyn Waldman when they announce Clemens was in the owner's box. Someone needs to check that chick's pantie drawer - she's shy one pair this morning. My god. . .

If I were a betting man, before the season even started, I'd have put money on Roger in pinstripes. Even moreso, after this April. It was absolutely necessary. But, it comes with a price, and I'm not talking salary and luxury tax. Roger is a six-inning pitcher. That Yankee relief staff just got booked for a whole bunch of innings. But, I guess that was going to happen no matter who was throwing.

Last year, the Red Sox put on the hard sell to sign Roger. This year, their effort seemed more lackadaisical. I'm sure that wouldn't have been so, had April been a miserably pitching month. Our problem right now is how to ride out the injuries as they start popping up next month. Roger would have been helpful there.

I know being a Mets fan posting here automatically raises the red flag, but I don't mean this to sound like Yankee-hating. Really. Just trying to view at as an unbiased baseball fan.
But with all of the injuries coming at their staff like a plague? If I'm Clemens, I'm not touching the same doorknobs as the rest of the team this season. I'm not even using the same door.

hmm..that storyline came from Boston itself. I also though it was ridiculous but then Boston always does stupid things.

Boston is playing .667 on May 6th. Boston always starts strong and ALWAYS collapses in August or September. Go back and check and I'll bet you can count on a single hand in the last 20 years where they didn't. This year will be no different. Once the injuries start they will be through like they always are.

We start down every year it seems. 05 we were like 11-19. Lat year, didn't Baltimore have a big lead at this point? I like our strting rotation this year(when healthy) MUCH better than last year. Moose,Pettite,Wang,Hughes and Clemens? I like that better than Bostons SR.

    Eh, IMO:

    Beckett > Wang
    Schilling > Moose
    Pettitte > Wakefield
    Matsuzaka = Clemens
Hughes > All (possibly, if healthy.)

Right now, until I see something that tells me differently, Boston's rotation is far superior to ours. Plus, their pen has been much better so far as well.

Their pen is only better because it hasn't been overused.

Beckett, Schilling and Wakefiled will probably not go through the season without at least one trip to the DL. Especially Beckett and Schilling. Matsusaka, who knows, as he has never had to pitch in this many starts in his career. So we have had our injuries early, they will get theirs too. Manny? Ortiz? Both possibilities for the DL too.
