I'll be interested to hear how he technically violated the NFL conduct policy. I haven't read it admittedly, but without being convicted of a crime anywhere but in the court of public opinion, there must be a provision in there for being a dumbass. Like it or not, the guy never was convicted. For the record, I believe he did something wrong of a sexual nature and is a piece of shit, but I'm not a court.
The hubby packed up his Big Ben jerseys, tee shirts and sweatshirts and put them in a box to give to Goodwill. He refuses to support a pervert. His words, not mine. While I respect that, I also remember what I paid for the damn things.
Wow you women want it both ways. He either supports a rapist and thereby gets cut off or He gets rid of the rapist's gear which you paid a lot of money for thereby raising your ire and he gets cut off............. Jesus this is like death or ooga booga.
It'll pass. I mean, I had to stop wearing bow ties for a while after the Pee Wee Herman scandal, but a couple of years later I was back to my usual daily attire.
This is why I staple a donut to my forhead. No rapist is crazy enough to do that, and I still get to wear my fancy, edible sweat band.
Have any of you actually read his police report? http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2010/0415101roethlisberger1.html Apparently his bodyguard took the girl into the hallway, had her seated on a stool, and Ben came walking towards her from the dark with his penis out.
that's the greatest hypocrisy of this entire ordeal. if he didn't do what he is accused of, is the NFL saying if you go outside of your house and someone accuses you of a crime, the act of being accused means you violated NFL policy? if not, what are they saying? simply going to a bar is violating NFL policy? or going to a bar and buying women drinks is against NFL policy? or perhaps buying drinks for women who will claim sexual assault is the violation of NFL policy and if you are going to go to a bar and buy drinks for women, you can only do so for women who won't claim rape? it's all very complicated how they are going to attempt to justify the suspension.
I guess it comes down to what he admits happened. Regardless of the rape thing, if he admits he walked around with his dong hanging out and was drunk and disorderly, then that might be what breaks the conduct policy, not the rape. I don't think he's admitted to a single thing yet, right?
why would he admit to anything? he isn't being charged with a crime so why would he do anything but deny, deny, deny? "I didn't do anything but go to a bar, buy drinks from some pretty girls and try to gets some? is it really against NFL policy, commish, to go to a bar, buy women drinks, and try to gets me some sexy time? or is it only a violation if I do all three in conjunction? I'm very confused?"
my guess would be whatever is on the police reports, and whatever was discussed in the meeting Goodell had with Ben is what the violation is based on. fact is, this puts the NFL in a spotlight that the NFL does not want to be in. set an example, stop it from becoming a trend.
The whole issue is that Mayberry PD handled the investigation. There is no doubt in my mind they fucked this up from the get go. We all know dam well why the tape was recorded over. It has nothing to do with Little Ben but everything to do with there were multiple underage women drinking in there. The fact that the bar owner hasn't been charged with tampering of evidence is ridiculous and why the popo didn't confiscate the tape from the get go shows how incredibly inept of a police department it is. The only piece of crucial evidence was destroyed by a sleezy bar owner covering his own ass. I've heard parts of the report and it reads like something out of a really bad porno. As far as a suspension I don't know how you can suspend somebody for being a jackass. He was never charged ad as big of a POS I don't think you can suspend somebody based on morality. There are numerous deadbeat dads in the league and this is proved in court. Why not start suspending them?
