You can get some decent backups though. Which is what we need at OL, since the FO is pretty adamant on either Vlad or Hunter being a starter next year.

What do you get when you combine the skills of Hunter and vlAD? HAD

We have to get a OL in at least the 2nd round.

Turner's injury put a huge mega dent in the OL depth last year. He was the only player on the roster other than Mangold that had mastered the snap counts and would've stepped in when Mangold got injured. I'm hoping he comes back but I doubt it at this point

Rob Turner was pretty good and a fall back option as a back up lineman

Things like that are valuable to the team ... When your qb was top 5 in sacks you need all the help you can get

Broken leg or not players actually do recover ... Our priorities are not in the right place

    Why do you assume that?

Well I see Turner as a great option to come back not just for his familiarity with line mates, his passion, or his versatility (all great attributes). The main reason I want Turner back is that the guy Just doesn’t give a FUCK.

-Turner Doesn’t give a Fuck about Tebow

-Turner Dosent Give a Fuck about the locker room

    - Turner Doesn’t give a Fuck about being part of the media frenzy

-Seems to me that Turner doesn’t even give a Fuck about; giving a Fuck. Why should we Give a Fuck then? Close the thread, because; who really Gives a Fuck about Rob Turner.

I'm pretty sure you gave a fuck when he got injured ... And I'm sure you gave a fuck even MORE when Mangold went down earlier last season

    Spare me the coldblooded talk

Oh I don't give a fuck about Tebow either BTW

I'm in agreement here. Would be nice to bring Turner back for depth. Depth on the o-line, as most of you have pointed out here and other threads, can not be scoffed.

The real question is does Turner WANT to come back?

Being a back lineman is all about the money and not loyalty. He is, at this point, a career backup and will go to whomever pays him the most as that is what his career will be about. He most likely will never see a blockbuster deal so he's going to get what he can from whomever.

Having said that, I'd like to see a couple of road graders drafted with our compensatory picks. That would be good use of those. MAYBE a late FA pickup. We do need a bit more depth.

Turner's gone, signed with St. Louis. I liked Turner, but he's replaceable at this point, especially coming off an injury.

having no depth on the oline is what happens when you have 2 or 3 pro bowlers and 1st round draft picks on the oline as starters.... in addition to a #5 pick qb and a few guys with guaranteed contracts.

you have to be frugal somewhere, the backups is where the frugality seems to be.

you don't consider Austin Howard or Caleb Schlauderaff (spelling?) as oline depth? The Jets FO must like them alot if they let Turner walk.

The Jets FO must like Hunter a lot if he's still the starting right tackle. Who this FO likes on the offensive line is, frankly, terrifying at the moment.

    Hey, Schotty:

As a parting gift, I would like to offer this all-pro RT named Wayne Hunter. He will be a rock on your right side for years to come. If you were willing to pick up the fringe player like Turner, I am more than certain that you will be duly impressed by this physical specimen that is Wayne Hunter.

He was "replaceable" last year, too, when he got hurt. The only problem is that the Jets didn't. Replace him, that is.

So far as I have heard, they have not replaced him this year, either.

Turner's injury and the FO's failure to replace him was a major factor in the Jets not making the playoffs last year.

Ftr I don't defne "fringe" to include players who are important backups.

I think it sucks that we lost Rob Turner, he was a very solid backup. Now I hope we trade or draft for an O-lineman even more.
