There's no way trading just Kerry Rhodes will net us a draft pick high enough to draft Suh or Berry. Teams will be stupid to do such things. Have to think of realistically. I have confidence Rex can turn any defender with natural talent to a top player given the player has a desire to succeed. Mays has that ability and potential.

As much as I'd love Berry or Suh, I'd rather draft Mays and have more depth, but that's just me.

Doesn't Rhodes' contract make him untradeable? Seems like the best course is to draft a safety and phase Rhodes out.

That is entirely my point, unless someone offers a deal of pure idiocy that nets us an elite prospect i would rather keep rhodes. and not blow a high pick on a safety we don't need.

Also Mays just irks me the wrong way, and when I look at prospects and see the pure athleticism thats elite, but they don't make big time plays, or blow easy plays more than just on a rare occasion my first thought is might be another Gholston.... The guys I love are the elite motor guys who are just flat out football players. If they are an athletic freak too then that is a major bonus. But those football players are guys like Rey Maualuga (Bengal) David Harris (Jet) and I am sure our draftniks can name a thousand more.

i dont know about him, i think hes roy williams jr. hes gonna kill it at the combine and will be stout in the run but teams will abuse him through the air. and with teams passing as much as they do now, i wouldnt use a first round pick on a safety who cant cover

safety and dt are two of the deepest positions in this draft. i say we address those positions later in the draft and address either our pass rushing (if we cant get peppers) or our #2 cb in the first round

As great as Ed Reed is/was and despite his phenomenal play yesterday, his best days are behind him. He's got a lot of miles building up on him. Injuries were a question for him this season, too. Better off going the draft route. An above average safety does not have to be drafted first round. I have a lot of faith in Ryan/Pettine/Tanny to find a diamond in the rough, so to say.
Edit: And before anyone throws the name Darren Sharper out there (hell, I was at the Saints game) his last month or so has seen a pretty big drop off, IMO. The bye week helps him out big time.
