When was the last time we actually had a legitimate offensive gameplan that the team could actually execute? 2011?
He has done nothing, the Revis trade doesn't count because any dickhead could have made that work.Sheldon is the only bright spot and I think Rex influenced that call anyway. So Idzik has basically fixed the cap and has left the team void of talent with 21 mill on the table.Other then that he hasn't done anything
He brought in Ivory who has been very productive but, the glaring deficiencies at wr and cornerback are inexcusable.
Yea our draft was a joke this year 12 picks and only 2 are starting and 3 all together on the active roster.Idzik is the main reason we are 1-4 ,Rex derserves blame obviously but there's only so much you can do with the team that you have
Here may be the biggest indictment of Rex Ryan to date: -After the game, linebacker Demario Davis took responsibility for the defensive lapses and also highlighted issues with the team's weekly preparation. "Right now, we're not practicing like a championship football team," he said. "I don't see a lot of guys putting a lot of effort into film study" Folks, that right there is Rich Kotite stuff. The contry club Ryan is running is about to lead to his and the teams ruination. Rex's frat party is about to end, and with good reason.
It usually takes a GM several years to show how bad he really is. Idzik did a phenomenal job of showing that not all cap experts know football. I really cant believe how fast he exposed himself. These cap guys..I mean...they can print out an ESPN mock draft and do at least a decent job. If the guys don't pan out, you always have the cover from the media saying "yeah..that guy did not work out but he was pretty much there on ever pre draft I saw"..and then you make it 3 or 4 years. Spend some foolish money here and there and it takes a year to show the money was foolishly spent. Idzik? Remarkable job of showing he couldn't stick to someones mock draft for one year. Leaves 20 million on the table with no db's because we have so many studs on this roster that need to be signed in the next several years. Drafts receivers late that have yet to catch a pass even in preseason. Has some success in the first few rounds but hey...that could happen to you an me. Rex being fired? I hear you abyz but I doubt it..something this season will happen to save the one guy that Woody loves. Like winning their last 4 games..or going 6 and 2 in the second half with an easier schedule. Something will happen to save him..which....I don't know..but more importantly...save Idzik..which will blow me the f away.
Yep, the fact that a player who is considered a leader on the defense comes out publicly and calls out his teammates shows major frustration on his part and that Rex has lost the team. It also validates the suspicion that Rex runs practices like he runs games. Sloppy, disorganized and unfocused.
Rex's prowess as a defensive "wizard" is extremely over-rated and becoming more so with the passage of time. Rex still dials up the same schemes that he did when he joined the Jets. It was comical sitting back and watching every 3rd down situation yesterday, everyone over 1o years old knowing that the Jets would be blitzing, the Chargers having multiple outlets for sure fire 1st downs. Much like 90% of the "clutch drives" by Jet opponents over the past few years, with the exception of yesterday in which it started right out of the gate. It has sadly reached the point where I don't think that Rex does anything well as an NFL head coach and I would not want him as a DC either as the NFL, circa 2014, has largely passed the Ryan family by.
Firing him during the season accomplishes nothing. MM or Thurman become interim HC and then they're gone at the end of the year anyway. Suck it up and finish out the year and clean house. Go into the offseason with a killer draft pick and a ton of cap space. Either fire Idzik and hire a GM with the ability to make any football decision he wants, or let Idzik bring in his own staff and his own scouting department.
And we've worn that damn Tee Shirt until its now thread bare... The only thing older in the closet is the Jets SB III Champs shirt....
Definitely a sad day we've arrived at. Rex has jumped the shark, like I though he had last year until things improved at the end. But it was a mirage. No pressure on the team after getting eliminated made them play like they had nothing to lose. So let's put Rex behind us and make sure our pants are securely on. I was glad to see Idzik preserving cap space a-la-anti-Tannenbaum. But at this point it seems pretty evident that he's wanting as a talent evaluator or scout hirer. Or something. But his regime needs to play out. He'll be with us until 2016. Hope he turns out to be a good coach selector.
How many draft picks from this year start on other teams? If 2 is the league average your argument has no merit. I don't know the answer but it is an answer you should know if it is the basis of your criticism.
I think Kyle has earned the dreaded "fckn" middle name. He will now be known as... Kyle Fckn Wilson. He follows in some really great footsteps like: Wayne Fckn Hunter and the immortal Paul Fckn Hackett. KFW has much to live up to.
Saddest thing is that it seems like we had a better coach than Rex on staff who's now in Cleveland. If he gets fired for not playing Johnny Football (doubt it, of course) we should take him back as a HC.
