I can only hope, but it's not the Woody way. Rex will get a chance to finish the season because woods does not like to pay for people to sit at home or apart them while they are employed by another team.
During the Chicago game my old man said "Rex will be fired by mid season!"..... knowing my dad's flair for the dramatic and extremes (the beers we were drinkin)..... i took that bet and threw 20 bucks on the table (that's what was in my pocket at the time). Watching the game today i said "shit... Looks like you're getting my 20 bucks" = another failed jets experiment, not 20 bucks
1-4. Three, going on four years out of the playoffs. It's already here. You just haven't realized it yet.
If you think three years missing the playoffs (with 1 losing season) = darktimes, then I wonder how long you've been a JETS fan
30 plus years friend. I guess I should have said the dark times are upon us AGAIN...you just haven't realized it yet.
I'd much rather lose Idzik than Rex, but unfortunately, there's about a 0% chance of that happening. Show me a coach that has done as well as Rex with the same level of QB play.
But we've seen this so many times before that we're not depressed. Been here, done this, got the tshirt.
I'm an older fan and I've seen the NFL change in the past 10 or so years. You used to win with a QB and defense. Now it is all offense. If a head coach doesn't see that and adjust to it there is no way he can put together a winning program. A head coach must be married to his QB and the offense. I wish it wasn't so but the league wants it that way and any coach who doesn't understand that will be out of a job.
So for you guys that want Rex gone; you bring in an offensive coach and then what? You have no QB, a line that needs an overhaul and a lack of quality receivers. Defense still wins championships along with a solid running game. This team is not too far from being competitive, if it’s blown up at the end of the season it will take several years to get back to this point and by then the defense will be aging.
I'm not asking what you all want, I'm asking what you genuinely think will happen if: -The Jets lose to Denver, but finish the season strong at 8-8 while missing the playoffs. -The Jets stay mostly injury free, and Decker and Milliner both have quality seasons. -Geno finishes in the middle of the pack as far as QB's, cutting down turnovers and finishing around 60% completions. Does Rex get another year? I don't need people saying "That won't happen" or sarcastic remarks, although I'm sure I'll get them anyway. It's a purely hypothetical scenario, and I'm curious what people think would be the result.
Respectable offenses and a good defense wins championships. This team hasn't had a respectable offense since Rex has been here. Rex needs to go
Except, Geno,Milliner and Decker, are all on Idzik, not rex. so is the loss of Cro. Cro...3 mil... Sanchez, 4 mil. lol. Woody, does "Dear John" ring a bell?
