How about we get an offense in here before the QB? If Mariotta is throwing to these bums and playing behind this line, he isnt going anywhere either =/
Yes and if Idzik isn't an idiot, he'll draft a WR in round 2 (very good wr class so far), or pick up another WR in FA But Idzik didn't pick a WR until round 4 this year.... so you never know with this guy,
Recall the Giants almost fired Tom Coughlin the year before he won his first championship for them. The fans had given up on Coughlin, and he ended up winning 2 super bowls after that. Reminds me a lot of the Rex situation this year....hopefully they follow the Giants' lead and keep him around to finish the job, but historically we're the dumb NY franchise so I'm expecting Rex to be fired as this thread suggests. (smh)
I said I did not watch many, I never said I havent watch any because I have watched Oregon, full games. Regardless though, what is your direction for this franchise that you want to see happen?
If we somehow have the fortune to draft Mariota, I wouldn't care if we sat him for a full year, then drafted olineman galore and WRs up the wazoo. _
So you never saw Geno in college, you've watched a few of Mariota's college games but to you they're the same guy? It literally makes no sense. _
I'm not saying Idzik is perfect, I'm saying I recognize the plan and I'm ok with it. I really don't care that we didn't get Emmanuel Sanders and I'm still glad we didn't pick up DRC. Maybe Antonio Cromartie would have been a good signing, but maybe the coaching staff recommended against it. Cro had a bunch of well documented issues with authority in the past. In my opinion there were absolute needs in FA: a WR, a backup QB, a TE, a stopgap CB and a couple OL. There were other needs as well, a shit ton of them. CB, S, WR, TE, OLB, OL. I'm glad he went into a deep draft and took 1 or more players at every need position. We all knew that even if he drafted 12 players, that some probably wouldn't stick. It sucks that our two areas with questions have been hit with a shit ton of injuries, but sometimes that's just life. Decker and Evans have both suffered injuries. Milliner and McDougle both suffered injuries, and Patterson had non injury issues. It's unfortunate that our CB corps and WR corps had these situations fall upon them, but that's life. It would be nice to know what we have in Shaq Evans and Dexter McDougle, but that's the way the chips fell.
There are key differences... Coughlin had success in the past with Jacksonville as a Head Coach. Rex took over as DC for a team with an intact and menacing defense where anyone decent could have looked good. Coughlin demands discipline, Rex doesn't. Coughlin knows both sides of the ball and can make proper assessments of his team. Rex only knows defense and even with that he brings that he's more of a 1960's / 1970's blitzing style of jailbreak in an era where QB's are smart mobile and can get the ball off to the hot read in a hurry burning defenses that just rush everyone. Rex under the control of a HC would still be a very good coordinator. Rex as a HC doesn't have the patience to push the right button on defense to get it off the field. Rex is probably the most clueless HC on the offensive side of the ball since his dad..
We could have had Sanders instead of signing Vick, or Chris Johnson, both got more money than Sanders I believe.... Sanders+Decker.
As bad as this season is turning out to be, they will win enough games to be out of the running for Mariota unless Idzik pulls a Tanny and packages tons of picks to move up into Jacksonville's spot and that is the last thing this team needs after years of Tanny giving away picks.
I disagree. If we're close enough to make the move, we make it and don't look back. Unfortunately I agree we won't be anywhere near the top 3-5 picks. _
Including 1998, Parcells had less success than Rex with his entire post Patriots career than Rex has in his first two seasons here. Fat Bill is a mirage, he hasn't been a winner since the Giants and should have spent 10 years of eligibility getting into the HOF. But he gave a good soundbyte so reporters suck his dick.
