I believe the Jets attempt to also land Todd Haley as the passing cordinator and assistant coach with Tony is all we need to know about the Sparano hire.

i would wait a year or 2 on grading mckenzie. oakland was a complete dumpster fire and mckenzie was pretty handcuffed this year with the palmer trade and some bad contracts. likewise the next g.m. is going to need some leeway before we call for his head. it is going to take 2 good offseasons to get this team on a competitive level again

I think with good talent rex is a good coach. He needs a good GM and tannebum has to go back to capologist. Rex needs to take a BB approach. Hate the guy but he looks for any advantage he can fine. Even if it is classless.

Hired January 2012. He hasn't even had the chance to shed most of the contracts his franchise was stuck with. Except for Parcells, who are you expecting to turn around a franchise that quickly?

Also, you could be right & McKenzie might turn out to be a bad hire. However, it was the right idea by the Raiders. If McKenzie failed the smart thing again would be to grab another experienced scout/front office man from a successful organization.

From Rex Ryan's post game transcript on the official New York Jets website:

    On what gives him confidence…

I saw us making strides up until this game. Even in this game, I think our offense is improving, I really believe that. I think we’re running the ball more efficiently than we have. I think our protections are better. Obviously, it’s not going to look like it when we got blown out. That’s what gives me confidence. I think we’re getting better on that side of the ball. On defense, I’m confident that we’ll get back to playing much better.

Rex also sees flying pink elephants with wings. :)

Time for a clean sweep. It isn't just the play calling. It's the team he helped Mr. T put together these past couple of years. This is his most talented team??? A Superbowl contender??? I'll smoke what he's smoking.

And why bother playing better now? It's December! Pack it in and get some good draft picks. Except Tannenbaum wouldn't know a good draft pick if he ran with the ball into his ass. Which is why Woody must clean house now.

BTW, if I am critically injured, please do not take me to the Woody Johnson Medial Center in NJ. Can you imagine how he picks doctors?

Okay, the front office may suck but Rex Ryan has had a major say in player procurement.

Either keep the entire clown crew and blow 'em all out.

OTOH, while he has had two very good playoff performances, he has only had one good regular season and that was with a stacked roster. Without that massive support he has put p a mediocre and piss poor season ( and I would argue that the Jets were well stocked the first year under Rex as well and he was also mediocre).

Frankly, Rex has gotten a lot of free passes because of those playoff runs. If not for those he'd already be gone. I'd love to get the game footage of those games and see just how much credit he deserves with some retrospective.

Im so sick of posts like this with this cleaning house bullshit, If the Clevland Browns went to back to back tittle games then had two bad seasons would they fire that coach???I don't blame Rex for this mess and all of you loved it when he use to run his mouth the first two years , now that we have zero talent on offense and players can't hold onto a football ,ITS ALL YOR FAULT REX, Apparently you are the only one making decisoons within the JETs according to most of the fans here. Theres plenty of other people to blame besides Rex , Like Sparano and Tannenbaum and Sanchez who started the fumble mess to begin with,The ass fumble started that 52 seconds of misery

Okay, so you rid Tanny. Then most GMs would like their own coach. It's the way it is. Do you balk on hiring a good GM because you want to keep Rex? No, Rex becomes a casualty in trying to rebuild this FO

I don't know what you pay for your PSL and season tickets, but I pay several thousand every year for mine (that I really don't have). And I am now in my 28th year as a Jets season ticket holder. That gives me a right to mouth-off about this team, the coaches and front office when I don't get a quality product in return. Meanwhile, I am sick of hearing about Rex's first 2 years as HC. Who let players like Smith, Edwards, Cotchery and Washington walk? This team is not the Jets team that won those first 2 years. And for all the bitching about Schotty and Hackett, there as been no improvement with Sporano (offense guru) and Pettine (defense yes-man). Now, Westhoff's special teams have gone into the tank. Name for me one area of improvement this season for the NY Jets. No, it's time to clean house. A chimp with a lobotomy could manage this organization better.
