If Callahan gets a call for a promotion (offensive coordinator) what do the Jets do? He's too valuable a line coach to let go

    In retrospect? In retrospect?

I guess he didn't hear all of us back home who were simultaneously yelling, "What are you doing?" at our TVs.

That's attributed more to the o line than an offensive coordinator wouldn't you say?

I think Jon Gruden and the personnel in place had something to do with that. And there's a reason Callahan's career slipped to the point he took a job as an offensive line coach.

Again, Callahan was both the head coach and offensive coordinator of those Raider teams, so it was not Gruden's gameplan. Also, his career slipped because he developed a reputation for not being good at handling players - it had nothing to do with his ability to handle plays. A coach doesn't get fired a year after making the Superbowl for technical reasons..it was personal.

We'll never know how much of an offense's success comes from personnel, execution or play-calling. We are all couch-coaches, and we are speculating on everything.

What can't be denied is the results Callahan's offenses had, especially when compared to Schott's. I think this was Schott's best year as an OC, if we were willing to hang on to him after 06-09, I'm not surprised he's coming back.

    Probably not.

Coaches assemble staffs. GM's hire coaches and players.

Fair enough. Just trying to keep hope, I guess.
