I've been on both sides of that decision where one team got the ball to start both halves. One time I did it on purpose because the wind factor was so heavy. We lost the toss, the other team deferred and I chose direction. We kicked off both halfs and won a shutout. Another time the other team just didn't understand the rule and elected to kick when I deferred. We got the ball to start both halfs. I like the idea of deferring simply because it gives the other team an opportunity to make a mistake.
You defer when you have confidence that your defense will shut the other team down. Unless of course it is weather related as pointed out above.
It's so refreshing reading his post game transcript. I used to read Mangini's transcripts after games and want to punch myself in the eye.
rex ryan sends a message to the fans Courtesy of the mike francesa program: He had a voice recording of Rex Ryan telling all the jets fans to get out and give their best performance as fans. The voice recording was sent to everyones home who is a jets season ticket holder according to MF.
I was awoken by this phone call at approximately 10 AM this morning. Although I was half asleep, and I still knew it was just a recording, it was pretty cool to answer my phone and hear "Hi, this is New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan." Mangina would have never done anything like this. I LOVE how much Rex Ryan cares about this team.
If Mangini made the call it would have been at night to help put the fans to sleep. That man has the personality of a clump of dirt.
the Wifey thinks we have something goin on. That's the 2nd time He's called me...and the 2nd time she heard me say. "Fuck Yea REX, I'm all in!!!"
I love Rex's passion and enthusiasm for this team. I'm definitely leaving the game on Sunday with no voice and a mild headache.
Why didn't I get this dopey phone call? Wha...my money doesn't count? FU fatty. Just go out and win the f*cking game on Sunday.
