I was at the dome in Houston llast Sunday & I mean it was LOUD, REALLY LOUD, SUPER LOUD as the dome was closed cause it was pouring rain outside. None of U who did not go to the game can really imagine how REALLY LOUD it was inside the stadium in Houston last Sunday Now ask yourself if it was that loud with encouragement from the electronic scoreboard & war cries from the PA system what good did it do for the Texans? If my memory is correct the final score was NYJ 24 Texans 7 We will win this game if our players out play there players. Since always in the NFL ability & talent will easily bring wins not noise from the fans. How many times have you been at the game screaming your head off on a 3rd & 10 & bingo the other side makes the 1st down? Sure the crowd cannot hurt but for sure it will not be the deciding factor in the upcoming game
**Taken from the "A Tailgater's Oath" thread** Did anybody get a call from Rex Ryan challenging you to come out to the game and be your loudest from the beginning of the 1st quarter all the way thru to the 4th quarter? He said he wants Tom Brady and Co. to feel like there's 13-14 guys out there on the field. He also said he knows he's not as a good a head coach as Belichick is, but that by the end of the game, he wants to show them that we are the better team. I'm fucking excited. Can't wait til Sunday.
Last year in the opener against the Pats most people were there at kickoff, more than usual anyway. They had the fireworks....and when the game started it was loud. People were really into it. Jets got shredded. That stuff really doesn't mean a lot. Maybe in Seattle where they have some kind of hidden speaker system that pipes in noise Here, not so much. The only thing that means anything is knocking the Quarterback on his keister, and the fans can't do that.
Yeah...I'm pretty sure Rex knows that, and I don't think the call had anything to do with trying to decide the game with noise. I think you are downplaying the effect of crowd noise though. Have you heard what players say about playing at Qwest Field?
The crowd will be intense on their 1st series. More so the defense than the offense. So, I'd like to defer the coin toss if we win it and hope the Pats opt to receive the ball. If the defense leads them to 3 and outs on their 1st, and 2nd possessions, I think the stadium will be behind the defense throughout the game. If they see Brady getting knocked on his ass, the fans will be behind the defense throughout the game. If they pick one off and take it to the house...may God have mercy on children's souls at the stadium. If we completely destroy them...I won't show up to work the next day because I'll be getting shit-faced in the parking lot. Is it Sunday yet?
just walked to the corner store here in downtown brooklyn.i walked straight ahead with attitude and surprisely no one came within my space for me to shoulder bump. i even eyeballed the local methodone addicts on the corner of nevins and flatbush and all i got was a polite "how are you sir?" and just an out right look away in fear of the LUNATIC. those methadone people hang outside of the ACORN office that is in the newspapers.
Jets have one of the most non-intimidating home fields in the league. I would love to see that change. I was at the 2003 Playoff game against Indy and the crowd noise was deafening. I would love to see Jet fans match that atmosphere in regular season games.
If we defer, I hope the Pats opt to kick. When you defer it means you have choice at the start of the second half regardless of what the other team chose to start the game.
You're still better off than I am, so be grateful. Me? I'm about 20000 miles away from home, stuck in Korea for god's sake!
I was at that game too, absolutely amazing atmosphere. It didn't hurt that the Jets CRUSHED the Colts, but it reminded me of Yankees games in the old stadium where the entire place actually shook. I wish i could be at the game this sunday, but it better be loud. Get in Tom Brady's head, make him waste TOs and get Delay of Games called on him all game
I thought it meant u leave them the option to choose what they wanna do with the ball.. I'm still not following. So, technically, what you're saying is, if the Pats opt to kickoff to us, at the beginning of the 2nd half, we can choose to have the ball kicked to us again?...
That's correct. When you defer, the other team has the option to receive, kick or take direction to begin the game. You then have the same option at the beginning of the 2nd half. So you can receive to start the game and at half if the other team doesn't elect to receive to start the game (after you've deferred).
Just got my call as well.. Oh man.. I can't wait to be there on Sunday.. I wish i was still in college where i can just not go to class, and sleep a lot so sunday came faster.
Gotcha. I wasn't aware that's the way it worked. Now that u say it, it makes more sense to have the Pats kickoff to us. Thanks for the info.
