I believe he's not doing that because he doesn't want to get beat deep. If he presses at the line that's a sure way to get beat. He's not as fast anymore.
Haven't read the whole thread yet but Revis looks 10-15lbs heavier this year. Not fat just like he bulked a little in the off season. Wonder if that's accurate and if that could be affecting his speed.
Social media really helps people connect... and makes virtually everyone a little more anxious and unhappy than they would be without it.
That's the truth. When it gives a voice to that idiot JR Smith the quality of everyone's life goes down, lol
Here are the ranks of some of the teams in longest passes allowed for the past few seasons, from shortest to longest: In 2012 1-2.Buff&SF 53 3.SD 55 4.Sea 56 5-6 Jck&Bal 59.....30.Jets 83 In 2013 1. chi 48 2. clev 50 3. Tenn 55 4.Giants 56...20.KC&Jets 77 In 2014, 1.Kc 48 2-3. Det&NE 50 4-5. Buf&TB 56...31.Jets 87 In 2015 1-2. KC&Hou 55 3-4. Oak&Phil 59 5.TB 60....16-17-18 Jets&Minn&SD 72 So the Jets have been in the middle or bottom of long pass plays allowed with and without Revis, so I'm not so sure it's just Revis. Our backfield may not be that great, or the current one may not have played together enough. The numbers are from ESPN's stats page. Ron
Based on what? Even in his best season he wasn't the best defensive back in the league, as Charles Woodson won the defensive player of the year award that year. If you take a look at defensive backs who got into the Hall in the past 20 or so years: Darrell Green - 20 seasons, 54 INTs, 6 INTs in the playoffs Mike Haynes - 14 seasons, 46 INTs, 1 INT in the playoffs Ronnie Lott - 14 seasons, 63 INTs, 9 INTs in the playoffs Deion Sanders - 14 seasons, 53 INTs, 5 INTs in the playoffs Aeneas Williams - 14 seasons, 55 INTs, 6 INTs in the playoffs Rod Woodson - 17 seasons, 71 INTs, 1 INT in the playoffs Revis thus far: 9 seasons, 28 INTs, 3 INTs in the playoffs Do you really think he's gonna get to at least 40 INTs? I doubt he would even make it to the ballot with less than 40.
If Revis continues to play bad the rest of this year just like last year, that will most certainly damage his self proclaimed lock to the hall of game. When players get voted into the hall, they look at juicy stats and im sure the low INT number will definitely hurt Revis unless he plays another 6-7 more years.
Not to take anything away from Sanders, but Sanders always lined up against opposing #2 WR's while his coaching staff rolled coverage over to #1's for help on that side. Darrelle Revis is without question a lock for 1st Ballot H.O.F.
