Of course his side will seek as much money as possible. That's how negotiations work, and it's not like Tanny is new to this.

No trolling. It's fair to think Revis isn't the best defensive player in the entire NFL. Pat Willis, Jared Allen, Dwight Freeney, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, and Charles Woodson all are pretty good players. Even Woodson, at his age, outperformed Revis statistically. Now tell me how no team throws at him. Cool. He is a top corner, but him being the top defensive player is absurd.

    Actually no he did not-

Shutting down a #1 WR does not show up in your silly stats.

    Look at passes defended too..

the reason revis wants his deal redone NOW is b/c he is on top with all the chips.

if crom and wilson prove to be the real deal with a huge season under their belts, it will be much harder for revis to rape the FO.

we all think we drafted wilson 'just incase' crom wants big jack or he flames out, when in reality the wilson pick may be much more about revis.

Seems like everyone in the NFL wants a new contract to avoid being the next Leon Washington.

I'll speak in a no homer fashion. Patrick Willis and Revis definitely debatable I'd say a toss up. They are on the same level of play and both on pace for surefire HOF careers. Willis is far and away the best LB in football, amazing. Jared Allen? He is a beast but last year way too inconsistent(majority of sacks came against weak Packers oline) and he plays next to the Williams Wall so he should NEVER be inconsistent. Dwight Freeney If I'm running a 4-3 I'd consider him but he is injury prone, in the 3-4 Revis all the way. Ray Lewis?? WAYYYY past his prime hes nowhere near Revis level anymore. Ed Reed? I love him to me, the 2nd best safety ever, but he's a safety and doesn't lay the wood like he did earlier in his career prior to his neck injury. Plus CB>S. Troy Polamalu? Awesome but doesn't create enough TOs, the best defensive stat, like Ed Reed to even be considered. Charles Woodson? Amazing playmaker. One of the best CBs ever at forcing fumbles and laying the wood. But he can't shut down WRs at this point in his career. See Rd 1 of playoffs versus Fitz. Looked like Man vs boy. CBs first priority is to prevent WRs from catching te ball and no CB does that better then Revis

Woodson put up prettier stats but that doesn't make him better. Revis is the best player at CB and is a better CB then any WR is at WR, if that makes sense. No WR in the NFL is on a Revis type level of mastering their position. Randy Moss is past his prime and he was the only one with a shot.

I think that should answer your question, based on the players you brought up AT WORSE, Revis is the 2nd best defensive player on that list.

    This.

I wholly agree with the last sentence as well. I've long considered Moss the best WR to ever play, even better than Rice. I know some would strongly disagree, but considering what each have had to work with, I think it's easily debatable. I would have LOVED to see a Moss/Revis matchup, with both in their primes...

Most everyone around the league is in agreement about Revis being the best DB in football. It's not farfetched to consider him the best defensive player either. Even if it's not true and you consider Willis or Lewis a better overall defensive player, Revis is still in the ballpark of 'best'. You accuse bias and homerism on our part but the same is true for you. Your hatred of the Jets would prevent you from claiming him as the best.

As I stated, he isn't the best defensive player in the league. It's blasphemy how quickly you guys state the names of Revis and Moss in the same breath. Outside of character issues, Moss is a NFL legend considering what he has done on the field. In the past 3 seasons, he has amassed 47 touchdowns on 250 catches with 3765 yards. Not many receivers are touching those numbers in NFL history and you consider Revis a better player at his position.
Revis is good, but he isn't a legend at this point in his career so you should probably give him a few years to round off before these kind of statements are made.

And where did you get this fact from? I do not hate the Jets. I love the Dolphins and the sport of football. Speak from knowledge, not assumptions.

Even if you consider Revis the best defensive player in the NFL, he isn't worth $20M/per. That's just too fuckin' much, we have 52 other players to pay.

He will obviously settle for less, this is a negotiation tactic.
