Why is that so unthinkable? I think it's pretty obvious that if we don't trade him the plan will be to resign. We aren't going to just let him walk and take a big 2014 cap hit. It makes literally zero sense when we could sign him and end up having a similar cap hit for 2014. The cap hit is locked in stone, might as well use it to keep him. It's only the negative nancies that buy into all the media hype and act like it's inevitable. Nothing is inevitable. If Revis stays and gets a deal during this season, I will be happy. I don't want to trade him without getting a 1st and 2nd for this year. Izzy seems firm in this as well. Good negotiators don't give up value by rushing to get a deal done, but it seems like that's what most people want.
How so? If anything Revis gets healthier as more time goes by and his value increases. It will only get worse if the preseason starts or if teams miss out on games or if his rehab gets hindered somehow.

I don't know, maybe the Jets think they can sign him. They are pushing for what they want from TB and they aren't going to settle it seems. As the draft gets closer, I think the Jets have control of the situation
Tampa finally came to their senses I guess. They have been bidding against themselves for awhile now.. can't say this is a big shocker. If I were them, I'd pull the first rounder. I'd offer the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th and tell them take it or leave it. It's not like the Jets have a different first round offer or anything comparable to hold them hostage to. Johnson would force Idzik cave when he realizes they are up the shit creek without a paddle, and Tampa gets Revis at a premium. That's what you get when you make it painfully obvious you want to get rid of a player - especially after an injury like that. Same old Jets.

The Jets already know the Bucs are willing to part with a first, they aren't going to accept less. Why would the Jets accept less than what the Bucs have already offered? If the Bucs want Revis they're going to have to make an offer the Jets can't refuse. Just because they're the only team reported interested in trading for him doesn't mean the Jets have to give him up for peanuts.
My money is on us re-signing Revis to a long term deal. TB is not willing to give up what Idzik wants for the best defensive player in the game. We aren't going to let him go for less than we should get. Neither party is coming to an agreement. Revis gets MRI and is way ahead of schedule in his recovery. Idzik sits down with Revis and they discuss him lowering his terms and signing a long term deal. I can just see it happening now. Roll the dice with TB. Ask for a TON, but take nothing less. Show Revis that the market is not there for him and he is going to need to lower his price. Idzik may be an absolute genius if this is true, which I believe it is.

I think they'd realize they were screwed and since it's so obvious they want to get rid of him - Johnson will scramble and take what they can. My point is that for some reason (Woody Johnson) the Jets appear to be very actively wanting to get rid of Revis - so keeping him is becoming less and less of an option and they might HAVE to take peanuts, if they want to trade him so bad.

NONE OF YOU KNOW ANYTHING... and thats pretty beautiful when you think about it,that means things are staying quiet. i asked earlier and in the mess i dont know if i ever got an answer. doesnt revis need to be willing to sign a contract in tampa for this to work? if revis says yeah im not going to resign in tampa or says well maybe we will talk about it AFTER the season... doesnt that change everything? so he essentially holds all the cards. if he wants to be a dick he sure as fuck could be a huge dick now.
The Jets have played this right, so far. They have gotten TB to up the offer but at what point do you cash in your chips and buy yourself a steak dinner and a bottel of grapes? I hope like hell Revis and or Dominick is on a Plane and being evaluated in the next day or two.
So far as the Bucs, or anyone aside from Idzik & Woody know the Jets could just try to re-sign Revis if they don't get an acceptable offer. So if the Bucs really want to trade for Revis they have to make an offer the Jets will accept. Lowering their offer isn't going to get that done unless they're going on the assumption that the Jets are in trade Revis or bust mode in which case the Jets would have almost certainly have already accepted what was reportedly on the table. I don't see any indications that is the case.
I really don't see how we can keep Revis unless everything that has been reported has been made up. I'm sure Revis can get over the perceived slight of shopping him in exchange for a ton of money, but that would mean the reports of Woody not wanting to pay him have been untrue. If we're trying to push for 2013 picks instead of 2014, there's no harm in delaying until the draft, but once the draft has passed, we lose a lot of leverage every day we get closer to the season. Were I a betting man, I'd say the deal gets done this week for less than is being reported or Revis walks as a free agent .
The one flaw in your post is that it would mean Revis would pass up a big payday. Not going to happen.
