    Revis

I just got back from Tampa. Radio down there says that the Bucs are ready to do the deal but The Jets are not sure they want to trade him. I think they have it backwards.

When it comes to Revis planning his career I'm under the impression he is interested in retiring as wealthy as possible far more than perusing a superbowl dream. I can't say I blame him.

He has the right perspective from an individual point of view. Do your job as well as it can be done and demand to be compensated as highly as possible for doing that.

From the perspective of the team he is playing for things are not so simple though. They have to figure out how to make his skills an integral part of winning a Super Bowl and that's easier said than done when you're talking about a CB or any defensive player.

Games are won by points on the board. Keeping the other team from scoring points is also a key element but it doesn't mean a lot in the absence of being able to score yourself.

Inside of that you have to appropriately value people based on how often they contribute on offense and defense and on how often their contribution is overkill.

The draft is next Thursday. Its only a matter of time before the deal is tentatively agreed on. Revis needs to have the Tampa docs examine him. The contract has to be negotiated. Revis will need to travel to Tampa. One day for travel. One day with the doctors. A couple of days to finalize the contract. The deal will be set in motion by Saturday or Sunday at the latest.

Peter King reported a #1,#3 and #5. He didn't know the years of the picks. TB is willing to move #13 in the draft. Idzik is trying to squeeze for a little more. Just make the deal.

Its unfathomable some people still believe the Jets are somehow going to give Revis a new contract. How many months has this situation been going on? Trade is the only option.

Isn't this thread overkill? Every since post that contains Revis gets thrown in here. Makes it hard to actually read information when I have to sift around over 100 pages

i agree its past the point of no return. state of the current and forward cap, expected player demands, and hard ass agents are reasons enough for me.

understand he is the best player on the team but he is not a QB

Idzik, Bradway and Bauer have a pre-draft presser at 1 today. I am sure the first 25 questions asked will be related to this.

Because the Jets have not tried to negotiate a contract extension, that means a trade is the only option?

Ever hear of logic? It might help you now and then.

They could also let him walk away at the end of the year..that's an option too I suppose but to think for a second that the Jets are willing to pay him 15 million a year or to think he will accept a penny less when it appears TB has no problem giving him that much would be crazy.

here is some "logic" for you.

It's logical to think that an employer would have an idea of what their employee is both worth and what that employee desires from a compensation stand-point. If that desired compensation is outside of what the employer would be willing to pay, or can afford to pay; then why even negotiate (I also think they have done this a few times before and have tired of the antics).

All I am saying is that, how would you logically start negotiating with someone who is as illogical as Al Davis? Doesent seem to logical for me, but hey you are the logical one.

This thread is about a potential Revis trade. We don't need several threads discussing the same topic. It's called organization.

If there is a different Revis topic to discuss it can certainly be it's own thread.

You can PM me if you wish to discuss further.

I have been John Kerrying this Revis situation all offseason and now that I know he is getting healthy, I am back on the #KEEPREVIS front, but I still doubt it will happen.

Going back and forth. At one point I wanted to keep Revis no doubt, then I wanted to trade him, now I want to keep him. Eventually he will be traded and I will be fine with it.

If this deal is on the table we should take it. If these are 2013 picks, that gives us tons of flexibility. With the 9 and 13 picks, we can trade down from one of those spots to acquire another #2. That would give us 2 picks in each of the first 3 rounds. With that, we can get an OLB, WR, QB, S, TE, and CB. Then in the later rounds O-Linemen, a RB, and other depth. This is the first big step in re-building this roster.

Without attempting to negotiate with Revis, they simply do not know what he would sign for. What the employee desires in some fantasy world context is irrelevant.

I am sick and tired of all the posters here who in effect end up being apologists for Woody and the Jet organization if they end up trading their best player, in this case not because they KNOW that what he wants AND WILL SIGN FOR ELSEWHERE is more than he is worth. But instead, because they do not KNOW that, they don't want to even try to negotiate because Woody's feelings were hurt the last time round.

Why is everyone assuming no deal for Revis? Maybe the Jets said come to these workouts, we will see your progress and then start discussing a potential deal?

I still believe all 3 option are on the table.

They don't want to negotiate with him..Johnson is more than just sick of him and his holdouts and his posturing and everything else associated with him..that's his perogative..he owns the team.
