post 2004 NE has made 2 SBs, 2 more SBs than we have made since 1969. obviously all time they aren't like the Yanks but this era they are.
you are missing the point, this era the Pats have been like the Yankees. Not all time. you are missing my point. I was talking about this era where when NE loses in a title game it is a huge disappointment. It's SB or nothing like it is WS or nothing for NYY.
Well it's too bad if the Bucs release Revis. We'll still get another pick out if it but the 69 would have been a great pick. No idea if there's a market out there for Revis at his price at this point. He may well have to accept just a normal star CB salary in which case the signing team better have some bulletproof language in the contract to prevent him holding out if the cap goes up a bunch again.
I agree. he got one year of self satisfaction that he was the highest paid CB, but ultimately his past behavior is going to cost him more on what will be, likely, his last high-value contract. don't think any other teams relents to his demands the way the Jets did. that being said I am shocked that TB is just going to release him.
How many games did Oakland win while they were paying Asomugha $16M a year? How many games did Tampa win last year? A $16M a year CB isn't like shooting yourself in the foot. It's like taking a shotgun out and blowing your foot off.
That's true, but that would still leave Brady with no receiving options, especially if they lose edelman and gronk gets hurt again. Don't you think they'd be better off going after a wide receiver in free agency? The last time the Pats got Brady weapons was 2007 with Moss, Welker, Stallworth.
now that revis will be released he won't cost $16 mil on the cap and they can get a WR and get Revis.
I'm not sure how much cap room they have but I'm sure a creative gm could get it done if they're close. I mean lets hope not, cause that would be a scary team to play against. With Brady getting older and the window starting to close I could see it happening...
If Revis is released and hits the open market, odds are against him ending up in NE. Their best shot at that would be a trade and reworking his deal (upon which the deal would have to be contingent). I don't get the impression that Revis likes Belichick a whole lot based on his comments in the past, so unless I'm missing something or he's had a change of heart, he won't take less money to come here. And you know some team out there is going to back up the Brinks truck for him...
Revis is great but he's not 60% more expensive than the next-best great. Nobody is. I can't see NE paying that kind of ransom, no matter how much it would piss us off.
It's still really unlikely that the Pats choose to break the Brady star system by importing a guy making more money than him.
Brady's making like no money in base salary anyway, it's all in signing bonuses this year. Revis isn't going to get the signing bonuses Brady got.
