I don't see why Cromartie with safety help (probably from Pool) would be anything but adequate to contain Marshall to pedestrian production, something like 6 catches for 65 yards and possibly a TD. Guy will produce, but he's not gonna be the key to victory.

If the Jets stop the Phins' run game (as they've been able to do to their first two opponents), the only way I see Miami pulling it out is if their D has a hell of a ballgame.

Cro has played well the past two games but I hate his record against Marshall. Hopefully Rex will give him some safety help. Marshall has made most of his production on breaking tackles and Cromartie just isn't physical enough to bring him down once the ball is in his hands.

If we can get through this game without Revis then the Jets should be fine for the next week. There is nothing scary about Buffalo aside from the prospect of being employed/living there.

We said this last year about the fins and yet they found a way to fucking torch us in Miami with the wildcat... I reserve any comments about this week...

I say keep him out until after the bye. If you want to play him for a few snaps in the Vikes game as a warm up ok, but not the whole game.

It's tough to judge his battles with Marshall. We saw it this week with Moss. I had my concerns when DThomas suggested lining Cro up on Moss all day because of prior matchups. However, most of those came after SD made the switch to a primarily zone coverage D. The Cromartie we saw yesterday was the Cromartie of 2007. If that's a sign of things to come, he's back to being physical with receivers. The only game that I can recall him being in man coverage on Marshall, Marshall had a decent, but not spectacular, game. 6 catches for 75 yards and no TDs in a lopsided loss for Denver.

I do agree with you. I think Revis should sit out the next 2 games just so he can be close to 100% week 5 when we have our team at full strength. You do need to remember that the Dolphins and Bills are going to play their hearts out against us, like always. Teams always seem to play harder against division rivals, as you can tell by last year when the Dolphins beat us twice and the Bills once. I think our defense is much improved from last year so I think we can put it together and come up with 2 wins without Revis...

Marshall will have his catches i'll give you that but it's not like he is unstoppable. the Jet D will adjust like they did in the second half with Pool giving help over the top and Miami does not have the weapons that the pats have.

The key to this game will not be the miami O but their D on our O. If Miami's D plays like they did yesterday it will be close. I don't think they get that many INt's because Farve gave you two of those. but they have a good D and we will have to see how it plays out.

Miami also does not have the same passing game as NE.

Where Fraidy was able to get rid of the ball quickly, Henne will be getting hit....

Completely agree. Hopefully they get past Miami with a win. They really should beat the Bills with little trouble, with or without Revis. That should give his hammy ample time to heal up.

Dustin Keller our TE has more receiving yards then Marshall, and a TD too.

Now with Pool in the mix and Cromartie looking better after every play there is no reason to believe that Henne will cause us any problems.

He hasn't had the MRI yet, he said it just tightened up on him. If the docs say he is good to go and he feels good to go why keep him out of any games. I understand if there is a question you keep him out but people talking about holding Revis out 3 games because his hammy tightened up is ridiculous.

it doesn't really matter - Relle is hurt and is unable to play football. that is the bottom line. So we go with what we have. Marshall is a felon and a jackass. But he can be an explosive receiver when he decides that he wants to play football. He creates alot of problems for defenses. We'll have to deal with that. Hopefully Revis can rehab and get himself ready to play football ASAP. But I would guess he is out for 2-3 weeks.

Cro being successful covering Moss is a poor comparison for covering Marshall.

The only real comparison between the two is height. Moss is a fast WR who makes all of his plays over the top and shuts down when he cannot outrun the CB or starts getting hit.

Marshall's style is to make catches underneath and hit up less physical corners for YAC. Cro has the size but I still don't see the aggression/physicality from him to be entirely comfortable with him guarding Marshall right now.

I'll be happy to be wrong about my assumptions on this one but until he shuts him down I'm going to be nervous due to his history against Marshall.

Sidebar here, I hate when fans call him Rell or Relle. That seems to me what his family and/or close friends call him.

I wouldn't want want you guys calling me Long Dong Silver.

Hamstrings can't be played through without significant loss in performance and the risk of lengthening the period in which performance is degraded. Every game the Jets play Revis until his hamstring has healed will be both at a lower level of play than we need, as in the game yesterday, and will increase the chances that he suddenly becomes unavailable for an extended period of play.

I don't think a healthy Darrelle Revis is absolutely necessary for the Jets defense to work. A limping one is clearly not necessary.
