$36 million? They have have really juiced up the back end of the deal. Even if that includes the bonus, it seems a bit large.

Only the guaranteed money really matters. I would assume that year 6 is in the $8mm - $10mm dollary (non-guaranteed) salary range. So, excluding Year 6 it looks closer to 5 years at about $5mm+ per.

there must be some weird terms in this deal for that 6th year, or its back-loaded or something or else mr. schwartz wasted a lot of time

Rotoworld said there could be like fifty pages on there.. so it must be a very creative contractual agreement.

the problem between the jets and revis and the organization was that revis wanted 5 years and the jets wanted 6 years. they probably back ended the deal so that on the 6th year of the contract which revis didnt really want to have he would feel like he was getting big player money so he'd feel like he was getting that boost from rookie contract to solid cornerback contract.

Man, 36M over 6 years? I hope a lot of that is incentive laden, as I'm sure it is. But still, you have to figure 15M guaranteed. Payday central... like winning the lottery...

He will make more money than Aaron Glenn. Glen would have been a top 5 pick in this draft.

Jets reach six-year deal with first-round pick Revis
    NFL.com

The New York Jets and cornerback Darrelle Revis have agreed to a six-year contract worth $36 million, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

Revis, the 14th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, will report to Jets training camp on Thursday.

The Jets expect Revis to compete for the starting job at right cornerback, a position Justin Miller, David Barrett, Hank Poteat and Drew Coleman all took turns at last season. He could also serve as the team's punt returner.

Revis was considered one of the best overall cornerbacks in the draft, and had an outstanding college career at the University of Pittsburgh, finishing with 129 tackles and eight interceptions.

With Revis signed, the only first-round holdout would be top overall pick JaMarcus Russell, the LSU quarterback selected by Oakland.

I would think Mangini suggested he work out like a beast once this dispute began...to prepare for when it settles.

to assume he was playing no football or doing training and playing xbox instead is probably not trooooooooo

working out and getting ready for game speed are two different things. Vets end their holdouts after the 2nd preseason game because they know they need 2 weeks to get ready for the first game of the season. i can pretty much guarantee revis will not be playing this friday.
