“I don't have any idea how much money you have passed up in your fifteen or twenty years of working to do what you believe was the "right" thing to do. I wonder if all the unknown people you did that for appreciate it enough. I wonder how much more you'll give up over the next thirty years or so just to pacify a bunch of people you don't even know.” Please correct me, but what I quoted above sure looks to me like you’re saying I said Revis should govern his actions based on what I (among other fans) think. Again, I made it real clear my problem was with him holding out, and not him trying to maximize his value or placate me and the fans. And I’m entitled to an opinion even if I’m not directly involved, as are you and everyone else. He doesn’t have to consider it, but I’m entitled to have it. And my point isn’t ridiculous on several fronts. The first being that apparently Asman and Revis didn’t know about the HOF thing, because: A-Asman asked it And B-Revis answered it as if he didn’t know. The Revis part validates me on 2 fronts because apparently not only did he think you declared a team, but that team wouldn’t be the Jets. So regardless of if he could or couldn’t is irrelevant here because apparently if he could, it wouldn’t be our team. So yeah, I’m allowed to feel disappointed. And you omitted or maybe didn’t have a rebuttal to a question I asked previously, I’ll ask it again in the hopes you’ll provide some color on it. Here you go: I’m Revis’ last year here he realized the jets were considering cutting him, he then blasted them and said if they cut him and didn’t honor his contract that would be “classless”. But when he doesn’t honor his contract he’s justified and classy? Seems hypocritical to me, but who knows, maybe I’m wrong and you have a different view. Any clarity you could provide, either way if possible, would be appreciated.
I'm not defending Revis in general, I'm defending his absolute right to make the best contract deal for himself at all times. I'm also telling anyone who believes there is a problem with Revis not going into the Hall of Fame as a Jet that no one goes into the Hall as connected with any particular team. They are identified with every team they were part of. I have been unable to track the story referred to that you repeat about him trashing Klecko - do you have any specifics? If he actually made remarks to denigrate Klecko it's certainly, at best, a bush league move. Sometimes these things get blown out of proportion because of misunderstanding.
What you seem to not understand is the act of holding out is exactly his trying to maximize his value - it is simply a form of negotiation. The entire process of negotiation is to take money from the billionaire owners and put it in the pocket of the player. The billionaire willing to pay more than the other billionaire gets the services of the player in question. I haven't been able to find the dialogue between Asman and Revis so I cannot assume anyone but you was unaware of how the Hall of Fame members are inducted. Maybe your lack of understanding led you to believe something that was not happening. Can you supply something in support of your claim that "apparently" neither Asman or Revis knew how the Hall of Fame operated? One would think the Hall of Fame had contacted Revis to inform him of those things related to his induction. Even if your scenario that both the inductee and a professional journalist misunderstood how the Hall operates I fail to see how that validates your own failure to understand and get pissed off at something that doesn't exist. Where did the idea ever come from to begin with that there is some kind of team declaration by the player? As far as the question you say you asked before, don't ever get the idea that simply asking a question demands an answer. I answer questions I deem appropriate or important and this one never came close to even the one you asked about my name here, which was answered because there was no reason not to. Now that you've asked again, I'd just refer you to what I said above about the negotiation process - talk is cheap and negotiations involve a sea of cheap talk. If you believe that somewhere here I supported your contention that anyone, mentioned or not in the discussion, was "classy" you are sorely mistaken.
I recognize how great Revis was with the Jets and was one of his biggest fans on this board, but after the contract hoopla and all that stuff about him"building his brand" I wanted to wait a while and see what his legacy really was after it all. What exactly is his brand now? Is there still Darrelle Revis designer gear out there? What has he really been doing other than getting fat and stroking his own ego on Twitter? Seems like his legacy with the fans is quickly becoming disdain.
