 I couldn't stand Brown. What a total floating turd. BTW: Didn't ARod lie to Roberts about steroids at some point? I think so, but I'm not certain.
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/30491150/ A-Rod may have started steroids in high school and still used with the Yankees, despite him saying otherwise. I mean, I don't know if I can necessarily believe it because there DOES some to be this huge anti-A Rod thing lately, especially since it's all from this same woman. But at the same time, if she did investigation, and that's what she found, then so be it. It also wouldn't be surprising.
Honestly, does anybody give a fuck who roided at this point? Seriously, almost every player from the 90s and early 2000s were accused of roiding...at this point I really don't give a shit anymore. It's not just cus I'm a Yankee fan, if the whole Red Sox team was accused of roiding I still wouldn't give a shit. It sucks that they did it but they did...move the fuck on
boo-fucking-hoo... we all knew (as of recently) that he's a cheater, time to move on and hope these next 9 years (thanks Hank Steinbrenner!) go quick
She has a vendetta? She's a reporter, she's writing a book about him, she found evidence that the most famous player in baseball who always said he didn't use did of course she'd write a book about it. As to changing the publishing date that's the publisher's call, sorry to ruin your conspiracy theory about selena roberts but authors have no say in when a book is published once they hand over the manuscript, it takes months to print.
That seems to be the general consensus with everyone I speak to, whether they love or hate the Yankees. Everyone is like "Hahaha, Bitch Tits."
Pretty sure the publisher decides the release date, not the author...I've actually followed Selena Roberts for some time purely by coincidence, she's a pretty good reporter (in my opinion, a better reporter than columnist--She totally botched the Duke lacrosse scandal). She and her colleague came up the with the anonymous test results, that's really quite impressive. I'm sure some of this book has flimsy evidence backing it up, but to suggest that Roberts is making stuff up just because she doesn't like A-Rod is pretty sad and delusional. And yeah, I agree with everyone else. "Bitch tits" is hilarious. The end.
One question, if Arod didn't say a word, would anyone believe Roberts' report before about Arod taking steroids? With this book seemingly sounding like a colossal flop and the Duke Lacrosse failure, her credibility is pretty bad
Yes they would because simply by not suing he all but admits that the allegations in the book are all or mostly true. The Duke newspaper stories were all couch in the word accusation, and or quotes from the prosecutor etc, but to publish a book makes you more likely to be sued for libel or defamation so no major publisher would print a book in which she outright states that A-rod failed a drug test unless she showed them some serious evidence. Personally I don't have a big problem with her Duke columns, she never outright accused them of committing a crime, and many of her criticisms of the players handling of the situation were in my mind fair with regards to their instant refusal to answer questions, and her exploration of the racial problems at Duke was mostly accurate.
I don't agree with you about the Duke situation Cellar, but I do agree with you on ARod. Honestly, I was thinking about it. Does anyone remember the ARod press conference about steroids? I know anyone that saw it remembers the whole trying-to-cry thing, but there were other things that make more sense now. 1) Derek Jeter refusing to look at anything but his shoes for the entire event. 2) Posada getting up and walking out inexplicably. Both things were talked about for a short while after the event, but then were forgotten. You have to figure at this point they were both pissed off to be sitting there listening to Alex spouting off about how he only did it for a short time, and not at all since he became a Yankee. Now that Roberts has proclaimed that he has used since becoming a Yankee, it tells me that those guys were thinking to themselves "Really Alex? That's your story? Even though you know it's eventually going to come out?" I wonder how he'll be received back in the clubhouse next week. Honestly, and it's just my own take on what I'm hearing/seeing quoted, but it seems like no one misses him except Girardi.
What Selena Roberts did to the entire Duke Lacrosse team was criminal. Perhaps not in the literal sense, but she created the rally cry for their public flogging even if they were innocent (her words, paraphrased). She wasn't alone. The NY Times, generally, staked out a pro-Nifong position until the very last charge was dismissed, even fabricating facts to twist the news spin. I won't buy her book for this reason alone. I'm not real keen on the leaks that keep coming out. Not fair to AHole. Plus, every new teaser is going to sell her another thousand copies, and I'd prefer the book flop.
Bingo. It doesn't sound like her book is very well or credibly sourced, but that's never stopped her before. And I don't mean this as a defense of A-Rod. Never mind the steroids, I think we all have known that his personality toes the line between socially awkward and tremendous douchebag. Roberts' book is looking like pretty shoddy journalism, though.
