Remember that one time the refs totally jobbed us and cost us a playoff spot that led to the coach losing his job?

Oh wait, that happened to Seattle.

That isn't how the rule works. If a player has the ball as jennings did, in both hands and never loses control it is his catch, doesn't matter who hits the ground first.
Though it is also worth noting that when they hit the ground Jennings has it in both hands against his chest and tate has only 1 hand on the ball.

Side note: how funny is it that WISCONSIN gets screwed by subpar non-union labor?

I would like to see the stats for the number of challenged plays so far this season and the number of times the ruling on the field stands vs changed. Seems to me that short of a challenge on a bad spot they just keep the ruling on the field almost every time. Which makes sense if the ruling on the field is correct but as we have all seen that is not always the case.

I get that the refs are not perfect and that they make mistakes or judgement calls that are wrong but it seemed to me like the actual NFL calibre refs were willing to admit they made mistakes and change the ruling on the field if the video showed it was wrong. Seems to me that these refs either are afraid to change the ruling on the field, lack confidence, want to discourage challenges or just don't know how to properly use video replay.

First let me say I couldn't care either way. Just pointing out what the officials might have considered.
That part of the rule is blurry as it doesn't state what is considered a catch and when. Is a catch, possession and feet down? If that's the case Jennings didn't have feet down. Tate did have possession and both feet down first even though he was second to get both hands on the ball. I think simultaneous possession could be considered on that play the way it played out.

I don't know if I've ever seen a play like that before, it'll be interesting in how the league deals with it.

I'll be first to admit, I thought Russell Wilson looked like a bonafide bust to me as a prospect...He has quite a zip on his arm and he is 5'10...My height...Gives us all a hope

Sort of funny. But this one is on the owners. They are the ones who set the parameters of what they'll accept in a deal.

Both "ints" happened in Packer territory. The Cotchery play happened in FG range and we were driving. They scored 2 FG's on both of those plays. It's logical to think if those calls don't happen we score. On the Keller play he was clearly down and Woodson had no play on the ball until he was down. Awful calls that cost the Jets a win.

Haven't watched pro wrestling in the longest time but last night definitely had that WWE feeling. Like when one guy is winning "the fight" the whole time and and has his opponent pinned on a 2 count which is about to hit 3, then out of no where appears some guy with a steel chair and knocks the dude out and the announcers are all like WTF. That was last night.

Get the replacement refs out of there and settle the score with the regular ones.

I've always thought that video replay reviews should be conducted by a group of specialists and video experts in the booth. There's no reason the on field refs should have to deal with that. It wastes tons of time, and if you have people in the booth reviewing every play, it will make the game much quicker. I can understand when you have to make a tough judgement call in a fast game, but there's no excuse for blowing so many video reviews, some of which were pretty obvious.

I don't know about everyone else, but I want the refs to be full time, and to be absolute experts when it comes to football. The old refs were crap, the replacements are worse, there's no real question about that. Goodell needs to fix this situation. Make them full time (whether its the replacements or not) and make the rest of the hours of with specialized classes and review of calls thus far. Invest in training the referees so they stop making the NFL look stupid. Games should not be decided with blown replay calls. This is a multi billion dollar business. Stop being a penny pincher and fix the problem. Hold the refs accountable for mistakes and raise the standards of officiating already. Officiating has been plaguing the NFL for years. Fix it already! And get rid of the fines for people complaining about it. That's just terrible. If it's a problem it should be brought forward instead of swept under the rug, but we all now that's how Goodell operates.

Have a decent number of refs that are full time and during the offseason their job is to train the more inexpierianced refs and get them ready for the upcoming season.

Practice at training camps and stuff.

Eventually the younger guys get better and take over the old guys spots.

    Something like that.
