I hope so. He should have been fired along with Mangini when things went south last year. He sucks as an offensive coordinator and this has been evident since day one with the Jets. The only person I was glad we kept was Westhoff.
It'll be interesting to see if this makes any difference. Doubt it. I'm sure Scottenheimer has been telling him "Protect the ball" regularly this season too.
you know what really sucks? if paul hackett was our offensive coordinator we would probably have 2-4 more wins this season. i am starting to hope more and more that schotty is done after this year. he is way too cute and i think callahan would run this offense without the trickery that so often blows up in our face.
but schotty hasn't been putting him in the best positions to protect the ball. hopefully rex will force him to keep it simple which is just what this team needs.
One thing I really would like explained to me is why the Jets don't use ANY screen plays?! Even without Leon in there, our offensive line is perfect for screen plays. I don't think I've seen one screen called this season.
no more screens, no more slants, no more play action. i don't get it either. Slants were the reason sanchez was nearly perfect on 3rd down in September. His timing with Cotchery was beautful... then Cotch gets hurt and Schotty just abandons it. there is no identity with schotty, its just this morphing outsmarting bullshit.
but the other side of the sword is once Sanchez is comfortable enough for the training wheels to come off, Hackett's bullshit would get old. this team needs a balance of Hackett and anti-hackett.
I think he's going in just to help out with Sanchize, Schotty is still calling the plays. Like I said earlier we need to get a grooming young QB/offensive guru in here next year and then we're all set. Draft some dline and add more depth and we're off to the races.

the whole braintrust is awful. My Math tells me this - If Mangini=Browns Kotite and Mangini hired Schotty, then Schotty=Shitty football mind.
i guess he had to give the guy a chance. Bills was strike one, Jags timeout bullshit was strike two, last week was strike three. a part of me wishes nothing gets better so schotty gets fired. all the jets have to do is keep the language the same for sanchez. But the man making the decisions of what to run on 1st and 10 and at the 1 yard line needs to be changed.
we need an offensive coordinator who can adjust as sanchez grows. he appears to be taking what schotty is putting him through in stride, but it is becoming painfully obvious that schotty is unwilling to adjust his offense to fit the strengths of his players. i have officially gotten off the fence and really hate schotty and his bullshit play calls.
damn, I just saw his headline on ProFootballTalk.com "Schottenheimer's name surfaces in Buffalo" and I got excited...but its elder Schotty...oh well, may young Schotty wants to go back to work for his dad?
I really hope Shotty is gone after this season. I haven't like him for a while. To be honest, I think out offensive system needs a jump start. I would not mind seeing someone new come in and make some changes to the playbook/play calling. It's just BS. Shotty tries to outsmart the defense. Stop with the fancy play calling. What ever happened to just playing football? Just have Sanchez drop back and throw some short passes.
