-San Diego lost that game themselves. Bonehead plays not picking up live balls and the false start on the FGA to tie it. -Bills head their own, then they realized they are the Bills and that they aren't a good team. -I thought it was clear that the Dolphins recovered that Big Ben fumble, the reasoning was sketchy "Not enough clear evidence." A Dolphin defender palmed the ball and dragged it underneath him if I'm not mistaken.
Steelers lost Aaron Smith today. Huge part of their defensive scheme. I'm not sure the Steelers are the best team in football without him. I think the Jets lay claim to that title.
He is the best 3-4 DE in the business bar none. Also your prior post was correct. The Fins had plenty of chances and the Refs missed a shit ton of holding in that game. (Fins holding)
I don't think the replay on TV showed the San Diego player moving his leg at the start but anyways. Let's face it, San Diego played like complete morons for 3 quarters. Can you believe some of the turnovers they had? That kind of mind lock takes work. Who's fault is that?
Believe me, I noticed that. Aaron Smith is probably the most underrated defender in the NFL. The Steelers definitely drop a notch if he's done for the season. I feel the same way about the Steelers that I do the Jets. Two teams that aren't yet playing to their potential, but winning games anyway. Everyone should be scared.
Agree with both, but the bigger items today were that Corner had an elbow touch the groud before going out of bounds and the blotched call against Miami when they did not get the fumble even though they recovered it in the endzone and their player was holding it up when he got out of the pile.
What is the prognosis on Smith? I don't think he is under-rated, I think he is the best 3-4 De in the business.
Cause they suck and I agree that they had their chances and blew it. I disagree. As stated, a couple L's to the Pasts and Steelers would be a good thing for the Jets
Unless the referees performed a lobotomy on several of the Charger players before the game, they did not cost them the game. As for the Pittsburgh game, while it was a tough call, the officials implemented the replay call correctly. When they called it a TD on the field the officials didn't follow up on who recovered the fumble. The Bills played hard, but Ray Lewis made a tremendous play it OT to win. Tough day for the Jets, but credit to the teams that won.
Just remember that the Steelers are 1 Polumalu injury away from being a much more average defense. The Pats are 1 Brady injury from being an average at best offense, you could say the same about the Jets and Sanchez or a number of players on a number of teams. My point is that things can change quickly in this league. It looks like the Steelers and Jets will be in contention for the #1 seed right now, but that is FAR from assured. What we do know FOR SURE is that we need to beat out the Pats, Fins and Bills to win our division. That's why you root for them to lose until much later in the season when the playoff picture starts to materialize.
I think the call in the Steelers/Mia game was questionable. technically they got it right but if i were a Mia fan i'd be upset with it. As for the Pats.Chargers, there are 4 quarters, not 1. the Chargers were lucky they even had a shot with those turnovers and the way they played for most of the game. they got DBriened at the end.
SD lost the game because they losers led by the biggest pussy there is...NORV TURNER. You stop the Pats on 4th and 1, get the ball on the 50 with all your TO and 2 minutes to go. And what does the fag do? Play for the tie. No killer instinct...nothing. That is why SD lost.
Well said. The Steelers looked like an average defense last year without Aaron Smith and Troy Polamalu. They just lost one half of that tandem this week. It'll be up to Big Ben and the offense to help shoulder some of the load now.
The other thing about that play was that Corner may have gotten an elbow down before going out of bounds. I thought he did but I need to see the play again to be sure. If he did get his right elbow down then that would have made it an interception. But it should have been an interception anyway pursuant to the rule posted earlier. Tony Dungy said it should have been ruled an interception. I posted the rule correctly. It is in the league's official rules for 2010. Maybe I'm missing something here, I don't know. Corner caught the ball in the end zone maybe four yards from the end line. He landed on Boldin and then was carried out of the back of the end line by the receiver.
Very well written. Couldn't have said it better myself. You don't start cheering for others to lose until we have wrapped up our own division.
Wow, I was stuck writing my prior post for almost a half hour. (I started writing it and then got distracted with the MIN-GB game.) Good about Corner's elbow being down. At least someone else at TGG saw what I thought I saw.
I saw the play live and thought Roethlisberger fumbled before he crossed the plane. I watched the replays and saw for sure that he didn't cross the plane. I then left the room and did not hear the explanation after the play was reviewed. What did the referee say? Did he say that there was an inadvertent whistle? That would have been the proper ruling. There would have been a whistle since the played was called a touchdown and that would have made it a dead ball. If the referee gave any different explanation, then I think he made a mistake.
Just last season the Broncos started out 6-0 and didn't even make the playoffs. Shit happens in the NFL. Jets fans rooting for the Fins were thinking WAY to far ahead.
