Well I added some stuff in my second post. This means Washington won't be reaching for a QB at their later 1st round pick so one less player dropping to us. It also takes out the rumor that the Jets were trading up to the number 2 picks or had the ammo to do it. Nothing else changes much when you look at it though because the Rams won't be picking a QB most likely.
You clearly don't understand how the board works. A mod will move this to the draft or NFL forum. Regardless, this is a crazy trade. The Rams are getting a boatload and probably still getting the player they want....Blackmon.
Schefter reports this trade will NOT change Redskins pursuit of Manning. That seems like a strange strategy.
What? Cleveland made the same offer, 3 1sts and a 2nd and thought they had it. They very much wanted to go after that spot. "The Cleveland Browns had stepped up their efforts to try to acquire the No. 2 pick in recent days, going so far as to offer at least three No. 1 picks to the Rams and possibly even the second-round pick, according to one source familiar with the deal. Cleveland sensed it was going to get the deal done, only to be informed that St. Louis planned to deal the coveted No. 2 pick to the Redskins." http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7...skins-acquire-no-2-overall-pick-st-louis-rams Unfortunately, the only outcome to this will be that Miami overpays Manning by even more. No way Ross will let Snyder get a leg up on him.
remember Cleveland has two first this year. Where they only willing to part with the later one and two future firsts? If that was the case I could see the Rams not wanting to drop down that far this season. As a said note for the Jets, I don't hold out much hope that Richardson gets past the Browns at this point.
So in exchange for moving down four spots in round 1, the Rams get a second rounder this year, and the Skins' firsts in 2013 AND 2014? That is crazy value for a pick they didn't really want anyway!
Well RGIII will likely make only slightly more on his rookie Deal than Brees would in one year. For example, Brees wants a contract similar to Peyton's which averaged $18MM a year, but was a cap hit of about $23MM the first year because of guarantees. Cam Newton's entire contract was $22MM. I think 3 picks for RG III is nuts, but 2 picks for Brees is about as bad since that would eat up all their cap, and they have little talent on the roster. Additionally you are all forgetting that Brees would have to want to sign for Washington, which he absolutely does not.
God dammit, I just realized I'm the GM for the Redskins in this years mock. And I was going to get ALL CREATIVE. Oh well.
I think this is a terrible deal for Washington. They have a UDFA at LT in Willie Smith. The WR's are late-prime to early-over-the-hill and nothing special. They have a blocking TE, who is a pretty good player but will not be a reliable outlet for RGIII. They don't have 1st round picks to fix this at this point. Finding the LT is going to be really hard for them because good LT's do not hit the free agent market often. Finding the WR's to match with RGIII is not going to be easy either. They spent too much to do this.
If Washington takes RG3 then Blackmon could be taken by Cleveland who needs a wideout or Cleveland trades down.
what an absolute monster deal for the Rams...It is going to fun for Fisher to retool that team with Bradford. Right now his first job is to get Bradford a Offensive Line and a WR threat
All I know is the Skins better go all in for Vincent Jackson, maybe Colston too. Youre gonna mortgage your franchise for a QB you better load him up with weapons
The Skins actually have Trent Williams starting at LT and Fred David and Chris Cooley at TE (I am not sure which one you are referring to as the blocking TE). And I'm almost guaranteeing Vincent Jackson is headed to Washington. RGIII will definitely have weapons.
If you think he's our guy then go for it, if he turns out to be the guy you were expecting it'll be worth it in the end. It's a risk but it is impossible to judge this deal now.
