More likely he's being offered $2-3mil and a guaranteed starting job more than he'd be getting elsewhere.

He's being offered less because we HAVE seen him with more than 7 career starts, and he's only worth what the Jets are offering.

Are you saying Jets' offer is a pay cut?

That's because nobody wants him, if anybody outside of the Jets wanted him he wouldn't be available, fuck Denver traded for Sanchez over Fitzpatrick that says it all

Other teams realize that the reason Fitz has had the success he did last year was because of Gailey, the system, and the chemistry he has with the recivers. That's not a guarntee anywhere else and they know that

It cost Denver a 7th round pick and about $10 million less than what they'd have to pay Fitz. Shouldn't be ignored.

No. I'm saying other teams would offer him a backup job and money (about $5mil) and possibly a chance to compete for a starting job.

I'm with you brother the Thompkins catch was right in front of me about 15 rows back. Hardest loss I've ever taken for any sport. Wanted to weep on the way out.

Here is a question no one is asking: Is Fitzpatrick losing Jets fans over this Negotiation?

The guy has never had fans his whole career (Besides a year or 2 in Buffalo). Finally a fan base seems to be getting behind him and he pulls this crap. I see his side, I really do, but he is starting to fall out of favor for me. I wanted him back 100% before FA. Now I am becoming fine with either result. Of course I am sure every Jets fan (well, most) will welcome him back with open arms when/if he eventually re-signs, but this has been ridiculous.

I'm sure the personal favor of the Dark Knight is extremely important to Mr. Fitzpatrick.

Its not that. It's also not like Fitz has 3 SB in his pocket for fans appreciate him for.

He had a decent year coming off a mediocre career. "We" rallied behind him from the beginning, even during his rough patch mid season.

At this point, fuck him. As much as I don't think Geno has much to offer, I'd rather go with him, than Fitz for large money.

Let Geno, RG3 and Petty battle it out.

Fitz and his agent are the crazy ones in this discussion...you are worth what a team will pay you not what you demand

High end backup quality is what the league thinks of Fitz....guess he can wait it out but that's not changing

I am pretty much here too. The longer you have to consider fitz the less desirable it is. Right now i am thinking is it more likely that chan can get fitz too play over his head again this year or that he can get one of rg3, geno, petty to play to their talent level?
I'm leaning more and more to the latter

They're not crazy, they're testing the waters.

In this case, the water may be quite a bit shallower than they would have liked. It's nothing to get ass-burned over.

I'm surprised at Fitz's reluctance to be a bit more realistic about his worth.

Enough has been said about his arm, age and lack of playoff appearances.

Without Chan, Brandon and Decker...he ain't shit.

Even Brady works with management to squeeze his cap hit. It may be a bit shady, but I think even Brady realizes he's in a good place to succeed.

    I may have misjudged Fitz.

I didn't see him as a "me first" kinda guy.

Don't want to repeat the mistakes of Tannenbaum like signing Mark Sanchez or Santonio Holmes to huge contracts.

I also like plan B. RG3 can throw the deep ball and is at least as accurate as Fitz and could be a long term solution at QB for the Jets.

It's more like the market outside NY is non-existent for Fitz.
