We have 5 million in cap space and Rodgers is earning 28 million this year, and even more the next 3 years.
I don’t believe in Mike White, but I’m praying he slays it. You never know. As for next year, I mentioned it before but I think Daniel Jones might be a legit option that would be relatively risk free. If the Giants cut bait (a real possibility if they tank this season the way it looks like they will) I don’t foresee many teams looking to break the bank to make him their starter. He’s going to be getting offered the “look and see” contract for a year or two. He’s bigger and more athletic than Zach and much smarter. His biggest flaw is he fumbles a lot. He hasn’t had much to work with in his career but in the times he had some weapons he’s been pretty good. He’s a significant upgrade over Zach with potential to improve given his age. The current Giants regime didn’t draft him and could easily be looking to go for their guy.
is that the 26th ranked QB Rodgers you are referring to? The Jets would be insane to bring him in (which probably means they will screw over the team in order to make it work)
Just bring in a vet. Jimmy G, or Minshew. The fans clearly have no patience to have a QB develop so just grab a vet who can execute, between that and the defense being potentially good for years to come….just do it.
their remaining schedule is Commanders twice, Cowboys, Eagles, Vikings, and Colts. They lost their entire WR core, they just got trounced by DET, and they’re likely going to miss the playoffs. Much like us their record isn’t indicative of their team.
Is it a much. much better front office though? especially in terms of the draft - which is generally accepted as the way to build a team. Since JD came in: - 2019 - 1 good player (and we were picking at #3) the rest did nothing - 2020 - top 3 picks looking like busts (or at least very disappointing) - 2021 - drafted Zach Wilson #2 I wouldn't say that was a drafting resume to be proud of. This year's draft looks good so far but when you have 3 first round picks you'd expect to get some return!
i WOULD SAY YOU ARE COMPLETELY UNDERESTIMATING THE AMOUNT OF TALENT ON THIS TEAM THRU THE DRAFT AND FREE AGENCY. i WONT EVEN ADDRESS FREE AGENCY THIS YEAR DRAFT WAS JUST NOT GOOD WAS TOP OF THE LINE 2021 YOU ARE BASING IT STRICTLY ON ZACH, AND COMPLETELY DISREGARDING AVT, MOORE, CARTER, CARTER, SHERWOOD, ECHOLS, MARSHALL, ONE PRO BOWLER AND ALL SOLID CONTRIBUTORS 2020 BECTON IS STILL IN PLAY, IT IS EASY TO BLAME A BAD DRAFT ON INJURIES, MIMS IS A CONTRIBUTOR, B.HALL AND MANN AS WELL FAR FROM AVERAGE
Here is another name I would seriously consider. Tyler Hundley, every time he is on the field he performs. He is cheap seeing that he backs up Lamar Jackson....everyone is talking about Minashew but if I had my choice Hundley fits our offense, is mobile, and has a live arm
by adding 2019 you lose the argument, say hello to Mac for that draft. And yes, it is a much better front office, it isn't even close, come on man ffs.
I know teams can usually work this out but doesn’t Aaron Rodgers come with close to a $100 million dead cap hit spread over several years if he’s traded?
Overuse of caps actually does the opposite of what you want, instead of a few concise highlighted points it is just a huge solid block of ranting.
Just some veterans that might be available (FA or reasonable trade) that haven't been mentioned: Matt Stafford -- If the Rams keep sucking, they could theoretically do a full rebuild, including drafting a QB, but unlikely. Andy Dalton Colt McCoy Cooper Rush -- Somebody will overpay for this one. Chad Henne Davis Mills -- Houston will likely pick a QB, and he's not been the weak link. Ryan Tannehill -- If Tennessee doesn't make noise in the playoffs this year, I think they'll move on to Willis. If so, I think they move Tannehill out of the building one way or another. MItch Trubisky Mason Rudolph Case Keenum -- One of our Bills fans posters thinks he's the second best QB in the division, or the league, or the history of the league, or some such. I'm not advocating for any of these guys, but I also wouldn't advocate for half the QBs discussed elsewhere in this thread....
