He was a fullback and maybe Greene should be too. Paul Hornung was the HB on GB in those years.

Greene's not very good at blocking so I can't imagine him being a good fullback.

I'm still shocked no one's taken a chance on Cedric Benson, even with all his baggage.

I think adding a guy like him to our roster would change the dynamic of this offense.

I am concerned with our running backs. Shonn is a power running back, and is strictly north and south. The problem is he goes down to easy, IMO. Mcknight is a shifty back that we haven't seen enough out of to be a viable number 2. Powell, who? We no absolutely nothing about him.

That being said, if the offensive line can open holes, we should be fine.

I could not agree more, and is an upgrade over Greene, at this point in their careers.

The coaches have to know something about this guy that we don't. Otherwise, it's astounding that he's still a free agent.

Between Powell, McKnight one of them has to step up.

He'll probably sign with the Seahawks. All the rest of the retards are.

Jets waived RB John Griffin and claimed FB/RB Jeremy Stewart off waivers from the Eagles.
Griffin was injured for the entire first week of camp, and you can't make the club in the tub. Stewart is an undersized, undrafted fullback out of Stanford.

Considering that Greene had a better year than Benson in 2011 (and is 3 years younger than him,) I have to disagree with you there.

I do agree that Benson would be a useful player for a lot of teams though.

    I agree.

I agree imagine the 1-2 punch Greene - Benson the 2 of them could really wear a defense down.

Im not a fan of Greene, but he’s better than Benson. Powell or McKnight should develop nicely to where they can play a good amount of time and hopefully cut into Greene’s carries.

    This.

Greene has not good to me since the Colts PO game. Annoyingly he reminds us of his skill every now and again, this will not win a championship.

I agree totally with the JMc comment as well. I'd love to see alot more of him this pre-season.

Powell , OK the coaches are amping him up, what else can they do? He does look a good prospect and maybe he will step up.

After last years O line meltdown, it remains to be seen if we will be run dominant.

    We'll soon see.....

Yup. I'm so tired of the "Shonn Greene can't be a feature back" nonsense. Greene was one of the few players on offense that improved last year. Despite Schotty failing to establish a running game in many games last year, a suspect o line and Greene missing a game he still finished over a thousand yards. People are down on Greene for no reason whatsoever. If properly utilized Greene will be deadly.

Sign a vet because our backs aren't proven?

If we sign a vet to take their carries then they will still be unproven next year.
The only way they become proven is by giving them the chance to prove themselves.
If we haven't/don't replace them, then that means the coaching staff feels that they have earned the opportunity to do just that.

If the Texans signed a benson-type in 2010, Foster never would have been given his chance.

You may know nothing as far as Powell goes, but that really is meaningless since the team does. We've heard nothing but good about him since camp started and we will find out more about him in the preseason.

Hey Gusto, how's everything been buddy?

I think Greene is going to turn out just fine. He definitely doesn't have the flare of a lot of the more elite runners but I think he's a deceiving bruiser. His strengths are not only his ability to lay a hit on a defender, but the fact that he's a patient runner with pretty good vision which should continue to improve as he matures and has a good center of gravity that allows him to keep his legs moving and to keep pushing forward even with defenders on him.

I think his downfall is that he needs the o-line to do its job as it doesn't seem he's really capable of making something out of nothing. But when the o-line is doing its thing he's a great back to have for this style of offense.

Really the offensive line might be the key to this entire season.

i just got the nfl rewind thing with coaches camera and was watching some jets games form last year. i gotta say, so many run plays were blown up by dustin keller not blocking the cutback lane. way too many times did greene or lt move away from the pile to an unblocked defender just waiting for them. if we can get some better blocking our guys might be able to get some decent yardage. hopefully sparano doesnt leave keller responsible for that assignment cause he fucking sucks at blocking. ive seen lt run through keller a bunch of times just cause he wasnt blocking anybody and sitting in the hole. really lowered my opinion of keller watching the tape. the guy is like afraid of contact on some plays.

NFL Rewind lets you watch all-22 for last year's games? That makes the package look even more appealing.

As for Keller, he's been a shit blocker for a long time. Too many people look only @ his receiving numbers when evaluating his contributions & ranking him against other TE. He might be labeled as TE on the roster but I've always viewed him as a receiver - Like a watered-down version of Shannon Sharpe. Hopefully, one of these other TE on this roster can block (and even double up on WFH's side).
