I remember it well cause it was the first time the Jets had any success at all that I watched lol. And yes I still do have the game on tape, strangely the only Jet game I ever kept on tape. I do remember wanting to throw things when Marino had that TD on 4th and 1 with like 40 seconds left. Amazing that we managed to get down the field for the tying FG.

I was at this game. Man, it was sweet exiting that stadium and looking at all those sour pusses...

Or Joe Walton during 85/86/87. Those teams were absolutely loaded with talent on both sides of the ball with one key exception.... OL. With the WR corp of Toon, Walker and Shuler throw in two pretty good backs in Freeman and Johnny Hector that offense could have been unstoppable if Kenny O had a dam OL.

So we're on our way to having a hell of a franchise now, is that it?

  6. This game is one of my all time favorites. First time ever in my life that I could recall of them having success. I'm pretty sure I even wrote a paper about it in 4th grade class a few weeks later for a "favorite thing you've ever seen on TV" theme.

I can still remember screaming after the freeman run...and the team piling on after the ball went through the uprights for the win.

I definitely remember this game. I didn't know what to do with myself when the GW FG went thru the uprights!

we're set up for a nice decade.

I was so excited even though we were just 8-8, it was nice to be back in the playoffs. 5 years seemed like so long(after '91 it would be 7 more until we made it again).

7 VERY long years! The collapse in 93 was terrible and 94 I nearly lost it when we couldn't even beat a 1-14 Oilers team. Follow that up with 3-13 & 1-15 it was not easy being a Jets fan during my High School years.

I was in my late 20s, had to stop drinking for a while because of my stomach, living in rural Maryland and usually broke. Watching the Jets entailed going to a sports bar in town, sipping ice tea all day, deciding if I could afford a sandwich and watching us lose on the smallest TV in the far back corner. Thankfully I got into drugs.

I have the game on tape. Johnny Hector had the game of his life. OJ on the sideline. Parcells in the studio talking about Allegre. Sent Marino/Shula packing. Great game.

The week prior Marion Butts had a huge game against the Fish to give us the shot of sneaking in.

I remember the following week in Houston Al Toon had a bomb go right through his hands if memory serves.

Toon actually caught a TD in that game against Houston- he didn't have one during the reg season. It was a toe tapper but on the final play of the game on a Hail Mary Terrance Mathis was inches away from getting his hands on what would have been the tying TD.

Nice by Jets standards? We're considerably worse in several areas than we were in 2010. I'm not advocating jumping ship, but I don't get the source of the optimism.

We somehow lost 6-3 to an awful New England team earlier that day to make that game necessary.

Sounds about right. Hey, those Dick Mcpherson Patriots teams were tough.

I would love to know how many Patriots "fans" actually know who Dick McPherson was. Or Rod Rust.
